开头段，开头段是非常重要的，一定要语言简练，切记一定要直接切入主题（有些同学在写开头段时迟迟不切入主题，会影响改卷老师对这篇作文的印象，或许还会认为你写的跑题），而且开头段一般不进行具体的论述。而且开头段一定要引起读者的注意，比如你可以将一句谚语放在开头段。（As an old saying gose"No pains,no gains."So.......)这样的开头往往让改卷老师眼前一亮。也可以使用提问，或者将问题概括进行开头，总而言之开头段一定要直接切入主题让改卷老师了解文章的话题和风格，并且要引起读者的兴趣，吸引老师的注意力。而且开头一定要注意与文章其余部分相呼应。这样的一篇开头是英语写作高分的基础。
中间段，中间段是文章的主体部分，在中间段一定要将文章要求写的东西涉及到（如果要求的东西有漏掉的话扣分是很严重的，如果漏掉的过多甚至会视为跑题），同时这一段要使用一些可以给自己提分的句型，让改卷老师明白你的水平，比如你可以使用一些倒装句、强调句、或者你可以使用一些固定搭配像There is no doubt that.......(毫无疑问的是...），I firmly belive that......(我坚信...)都是很好的提分句式，像这类句式平时要多积累。如果你的单词量比较大的话，就将简单的词汇换成高级词汇，这也可以让改卷老师眼前一亮。同时这一段的过渡关系一定要处理好，熟练的运用一些过渡词语例如:as far as I am concerned,in a word,what is more,in my opinion 只有恰当的使用过渡词才能让文章显得流利通顺而且句与句之间的衔接更加紧密，文章也会更加紧凑，而且要使用一些长句也就是复合句（同位语从句，宾语从句，主语从句等等），但不可全部都使用长句，否则读起来会有一种费力之感，所以要长短句合理的搭配使用. 内容也要按着一定的顺序来描写，不能给人一种很乱的感觉。
