1. It rained cats and dogs last night. 昨晚雨下得很大。
Rain cats and dogs是一句非常受欢迎的俚语，几乎每个学英语的学生都懂得用 rain cats and dogs 来形容雨下得很大。
当然如果你不想用俚语的讲法，你可以说："It's raining really hard.(雨下得很大)"或是"We're having a heavy rain."同样也是“雨下得很大”。
那“雨下得很大，我被淋成了落汤鸡”这整句话要怎么讲?“落汤鸡”在英文里常用"I am soaked."(我湿透了)来形容。因此，我们可以说：It's raining cats and dogs out there so I'm soaked.

2. We had a downpour. 我们刚遇到了一场倾盆大雨。
中文里常形容下雨像是用“倒”的一样，这在英文里也有同样对等的字眼喔!英文里用的是 downpour 这个词。所以“下雨像是用倒的”我们可以说："We had a downpour."
另外有一个十分口语的讲法就是"It's really coming down out there."，也是形容雨下得很大，像是用“倒”的一样。
3. It's just sprinkling. 只是在下毛毛雨而已。
在英文里不管下“毛毛雨”或是“毛毛雪”我们都可以用 drizzle 和 sprinkle 这两个动词来表示。
Drizzle 这个词就是气象术语“下毛毛雨”的意思，而sprinkle 则是一个动词表示“撒”，但也常被用来形容毛毛雨。
常听到的用法就是："It's drizzling." 或是 "It's sprinkling."另外还有一个词叫 scattered rain，指的则是“零零星星地降雨”。
例如：We have to cancel the track and field contest because of the scattered rain.因为零星的降雨所以我们必须取消田径赛。

伯延村民房鸿业今年66岁了，1961年，房鸿业尚是18岁的小伙子。他回忆，那天是1961年5月3日，“总理穿着灰色中山装，走在人群中间，边走边和街道两旁的村民打着招呼，感觉很亲切。”

周总理偕同邓颖超来到武安后，住在部队一个营房，每天早饭后乘车到伯延，晚饭前返回驻地，中午在伯延就餐，开始了对伯延的4天考察。

房鸿业说，那时每人每天是7两，吃不饱饭，有很多村民都去捋树叶吃，时间长了，树叶也被吃个精光。有一天，周总理和邓颖超等人步行到村外，看见大道两旁的树叶都没有了，只剩下光秃秃的树干，周总理问：“杨树怎么这个样子，树叶怎么没有了呢？”陪同的干部忙说：“叫羊吃了，羊吃了。”哪知这话正好被路旁放羊的听到了，便反问：“羊能上树吗？”周总理心里明白，树叶是人吃的，不是羊吃的。

■“偷袭”食堂，总理吃到真正的食堂饭

到伯延的第一天中午，总理提出到食堂就餐，他看见为他备了猪肉和炒鸡蛋，就奇怪地问：“平时你们也吃这么好吗？”食堂的人支支吾吾，总理让工作人员把肉和炒鸡蛋端走了。

周总理决定“偷袭”食堂。一天，他悄悄来到另一个食堂，炊事员一见总理来，连忙盖锅盖。周总理揭开锅盖，见里面还剩些玉米糊糊，拿碗就盛。炊事员慌忙用毛巾替总理擦擦黑黢黢的碗。周总理摆手，“这没关系，不用擦。”

吃了玉米糊糊，周总理心里知道了一些真实情况。还有一次，周总理到一家烟囱冒烟的人家去走访。当时大家都在食堂吃饭，很少有人家烟囱冒烟。周总理在这位老汉家，揭开了他家冒着热气的锅盖看，屋里光线不好，锅里像是在烧开水。盖上锅盖后，他看见地上有榆树叶子，他似乎意识到了什么，再一次掀开锅盖，仔细观看，竟发现锅里是榆树叶子和粮食混合的稀糊糊。

据房鸿业回忆，当时的社员张二廷“性格很直爽，不会说谎话”。一天，周总理在街上看到张二廷，便上前问，“你在这儿住？”说着便要到家里去看看。房鸿业说，“其实张二廷没认出是总理，只看来人衣着像干部，加上平时说话就没多少顾忌，所以总理问什么，他都直说了。”开了几次座谈会，周总理第一次听到有人说“食堂不好”，但通过聊天也知道张二廷说的都是实话。
5月6日，周总理又一次召集干部群众开座谈会。这次座谈会，来了不少人，张二廷也在其中。座谈会上，总理开场白是：“前两天，和干部座谈，和社员座谈，那是背靠背。今天，因为大家敢说话了，干部和社员一起座谈，这是面对面。中央、省、市、县、公社、大队、小队七级，一层管一层，但反过来是群众管我们。”谈到食堂问题时，一开始，很多群众仍有顾虑，说了违心的话。
