If I were a boy againIf I were a boy again, I would practice perseverance more often, and never give up a thing because it was or inconvenient. If we want light, we must conquer darkness. Perseverance can sometimes equal genius in its results. “There are only two creatures,” syas a proverb, “who can surmount the pyramids—the eagle and the snail.” If I were a boy again, I would school myself into a habit of attention; I would let nothing come between me and the subject in hand. I would remember that a good skater never tries to skate in two directions at once. The habit of attention becomes part of our life, if we begain early enough. I often hear grown up people say “ I could not fix my attention on the sermon or book, although I wished to do so” , and the reason is, the habit was not formed in youth. If I were to live my life over again, I would pay more attention to the cultivation of the memory. I would strengthen that faculty by every possible means, and on every possible occasion. It takes a little hard work at first to remember things accurately; but memory soon helps itself, and gives very little trouble. It only needs early cultivation to become a power. If I were a boy again, I would cultivate courage. “Nothing is so mild and gentle as courage, nothing so cruel and pitiless as cowardice,” syas a wise author. We too often borrow trouble, and anticipate that may never appear.” The fear of ill exceeds the ill we fear.” Dangers will arise in any career, but presence of mind will often conquer the worst of them. Be prepared for any fate, and there is no harm to be freared. If I were a boy again, I would look on the cheerful side. Life is very much like a mirror: if you smile upon it, I smiles back upon you; but if you frown and look doubtful on it, you will get a similar look in return. Inner sunshine warms not only the heart of the owner, but of all that come in contact with it. “ who shuts love out ,in turn shall be shut out from love.” If I were a boy again, I would school myself to say no more often. I might write pages on the importance of learning very early in life to gain that point where a young boy can stand erect, and decline doing an unworthy act because it is unworthy. If I were a boy again, I would demand of myself more courtesy towards my companions and friends, and indeed towards strangers as well. The smallest courtesies along the rough roads of life are like the little birds that sing to us all winter long, and make that season of ice and snow more enrable. Finally, instead of trying hard to be happy, as if that were the sole purpose of life, I would , if I were a boy again, I would still try harder to make others happy.
A Young Idler,An Old Beggar
Almost everyone knows the famous Chinese saying：A young idler，an old beggar. Throughout history，we have seen many cases in which this saying has again and again proved to be true.
It goes without saying that the youth is the best time of life，ring which one's mental and physical states are at their peaks. It takes relatively less time and pains to learn or accept new things in a world full of changes and rapid developments. In addition，one is less likely to be under great pressure from career，family and health problems when young. Therefore，a fresh mind plus enormous energy will ensure success in different aspects of life.
Of course，we all know：no pains，no gains. If we don't make every effort to make good use of the advantages youth brings us，it is impossible to achieve any goals. As students，we should now try our best to learn all the subjects well so that we can be well prepared for the challenges that we will face in the future.
Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind; it is not a matter of
rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees; it is a matter of the will, a
quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions; it is the freshness of
the deep springs of life.
Youth means a tempera-mental predominance of courage over timidity, of the
appetite for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of
60 more than a boy of 20. Nobody grows old merely by a number of years. We
grow old by deserting our ideals.
Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul.
Worry, fear, self-distrust bows the heart and turns the spring back to st.
Whether 60 or 16, there is in every human being’s heart the lure of wonder,
the unfailing childlike appetite of what’s next and the joy of the game of
living. In the center of your heart and my heart there is a wireless
station: so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, courage and
power from men and from the Infinite, so long are you young.
When the aerials are down, and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism
and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old, even at 20, but as long as
your aerials are up, to catch waves of optimism, there is hope you may die
A Perfect Holiday
My lecture’s name is “ Perfect Holiday”.
Now it’s the 21st century, everyone is busy. Especially our parents are very busy. Every boys and girls, please imagine this: your parents go away on business, but you have to stay at home alone. Would life as easy as when your parents are around? Would it be a perfect holiday for you?
Once, my parents both go on business. I worry “Where would I find food? How would I cook it?” Actually I know little about cooking.
I can fill an empty stomach with tomato and egg soup, but that’s all. I think many of my classmates are the same. We wouldn’t know what to do, or how to look after ourselves. So I don’t think teenagers get enough practice.
My friends said that they did their homework until 10 o’clock, it’s so late! Most teenagers only have time for their homework. They don’t learn any life skills until they go to college.
But why it happens? In my opinion, many teenagers depend too much on their parents, and there is much more to learn than cooking, like“tidying up your room or even dressing yourself properly”.
If we want to solve this problem, there’s a way: Try our best to do some things on our own. A human first need be a self-help person, then he will be a successful man.
My lecture is over. Thanks for everyone.
Jazz and blues are American inventions. But most Americans were happy to get their classical music from Europe. After all, classical music is the name for European music from the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.
Music can be the delicious food for our spiritual life. In a sense, music to life is just like salt to food. Salt can make our food delicious and music can make our lives rich and colorful. But it’s all known that different people prefer different tastes: salty, spicy, fresh, aromatic or pungent. Similarly, music is usually divided into classical and popular ones. Some people enjoy classical music, while others are fascinated by pop music. It’s a liberal world today. Personally speaking, I prefer classical music for the following reasons.
First of all, classical music outweighs its popular counterpart in that it molds one’s character, temperament and disposition. In the history of classical music, there are almost uncountable famous classical musicians such as Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Brahms and Vivaldi. Their classical music has benefited uncountable people all over the world.
Secondly, classical music, like classical dances or classical poetry, is much more elegant and graceful than pop music. Generally speaking, classical works always have more content and meaning. At the same time, many pop songs are commercialized and shallow in this highly commercialized society.
Last but not least, classical music frequently transcends the limitation of time and space. The classical works of those famous musicians have been and will always be masterpieces all the time. Even today Mozart and the above-mentioned musicians are still remembered and respected for their classical music by most people in different countries throughout the world, although Mozart himself was nothing but a mortal person.
What can you do to make your high life colorful ? describe the ideal life in college . When I was in high school , I had dreamt of having a wonderful life in college . I said to myself that I would do lots of interesting things to make the next few years filled with happiness. I even make a detailed plan . but when I entered college I found it quite different from what I thought before ,I felt a little depressed .As I don’ know what to do after class .in fact , we have far less lessons than we had in high school;. So , what should I do in the long spare time . I didn’t know ,so I spent much of my time reading ,you know ,some novels , but ,day after day ,I began to feel boring only to read . Will the next four years be the same ? I wondered .if so , I will be crazy ,Four years have too much spare time , four years reading novels ,four years feel depressed ,I couldn’t think more about it .So after a period of several weeks , I started to make a plan for my college life , in order to make it colorful and valuable . First of all , I should get up early in the morning rather than sleep late , even on the weekends, then I can do some exercises as body building .Second , I should go to the library , of course , not just for novels , other kinds of books like maths , English are included . if I still have some spare tie , I will find a part-time job . in this way , I could gain some money and what is the most important, experience , I can know more about the real world .As having mentioned above , I have been thinking about the ideal life on campus .Some famous people had describe it for all of us ,an ideal campus should be such place for contemplation and inspiration , the enthusiasm for knowledge can get us out of bed early in the morning and stay up late at night
A milkmaid was going to the market. She carried her milk in a pail on her head.
As she went along she began calculating what she would buy after she had sold the milk.
"I'll buy a new dress, and when i go to the ball, all the young men will dance with me!"
As she spoke she tossed her head back.the pail immediately fell off her head, and all the milk was spolt.
The girl went back without anything.she felt very sad."ah,my child,"said her mother.

Who Deserves Help?
Many years ago, there lived a very rich man who wanted to do something for the people of his town. But first he wanted to find out whether they deserved his help. So he placed a very large stone in the center of the main road into town. Then he hid behind a tree and waited. Soon an old man came along with his cow.
"Who put this stone in the center of the road?" said the old man, but he did not try to remove the stone. Instead, with some difficulty he passed around the stone and continued on his way. Another man came along and did the same thing; then another came, and another. All of them complained about the stone in the center of the road, but not one of them tried to remove it. Late in the afternoon, a young man came along. He saw the stone and said, "The night will be very dark. Some neighbor will come along later in the dark and will fall against the stone. "
The young man then began to move the stone. He pushed and pulled with all his strength to move it to one side. But imagine his surprise when under the stone he found a bag full of money and this message: "This money is for the thoughtful person who removes this stone from the road. That person deserves help."
