海伦一出生便开始遭遇不幸，她从小因生了一场大病而导致了双目失明，双耳失聪。为了学习，父母帮小海伦找了一个家教老师。为了学习盲文，小海伦把手指头都摸出了血，家教老师心疼的为她包扎了伤口，因为她勤奋学习，最终考上了哈弗大学女子系。
我们每个人都有一双能够看见世界无数风光的“心灵之窗”——眼睛，还有可以领略各种优美声音的耳朵，但又有许多人不珍惜他们少年时的时光。将来到了社会上成了一个没用的人，最终走上了犯罪的道路。而海伦呢？她生来就有残疾，但她十分珍惜时光，十分努力用功读书，学习。不浪费时间，学习盲文将手摸出了血，这种精神难道不值得我们学习吗？社会上那些不思进取的人呐要知道珍惜时间！
海伦的一生都十分坎坷，但她却用她的行动告诉人们，一个人是否成才将来是否光明，不是靠你的优越条件而是靠你是否努力了！要拥有一双智慧之眼去观察世界，去发现人文地理，去了解社会情感。海伦是一名生理上有障碍的人，但她却在父母的关怀下，老师的关心下，努力学习，奋发向上，读书写字，她像一块干燥的海绵，不停地吮吸着知识的甘霖。她对世间的任何事都充满了兴趣，对任何事的表现都仿佛是哥伦布发现新大陆一样似的，兴奋激动，而我们却不会去发现，常识已让我们逐渐失去了想象的空间。我们也要去发现去创造。
海伦的事迹让我们明白了，一个人的一生不会被命运改变，我们要去改变命运。我们要学会勇往直前，毫不退缩的精神。我们也要去学习那位家教老师的精神，去呵护，去关心残疾人，让我们的社会更加美好，让我们向着改变命运去出发。

当然有好处了，而且很大，建议在看英语著作的时候，要查查不懂的单词，短语，句型
如果要看英文原著,你可以从简单点的看起,因为有的著作会有古英文,一开始就读难的是没有必要的.你的目的是习惯英文表达和提高自己的英文运用水平.这是个量积累的问题
你可以先看诸如<英语学习>之类的杂志,毕竟SAT涉及面广，光看原著不够的，报刊杂志由于涉猎面广，所以反而更有用处。
