The Spring Festival
Far and away the most important holiday in China is Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese New Year. To the Chinese people it is as important as Christmas to people in the West. The dates for this annual celebration are determined by the lunar calendar rather than the Gregorian calendar, so the timing of the holiday varies from late January to early February.
To the ordinary Chinese, the festival actually begins on the eve of the lunar New Year's Day and ends on the fifth day of the first month of the lunar calendar. But the 15th of the first month, which normally is called the Lantern Festival, means the official end of the Spring Festival in many parts of the country. 2
Spring Festival is the most importantand popular festival in China.Before Spring Festival ,the people usually clean and decorate their houses.And they go to the Flower Fairs to buy some flowers.During Spring Festival ,the alts usually give lucky money to children.People often get together and have a big meal.Some people eat mpling for dinner.

Computer
With the development of science and technology, computers are now being used everywhere, whether in the government, in schools or in businesses. They have become a window through which we can understand the world better. Certainly they are also a good tool to learn English.
I chat with foreign friends in English at weekends. It can help to improve my spoken English and written English. Before lunch, I listen to VOA and BBC, so I can train my listening and imitate both American and British spoken English. I often search some English webs before supper. As a result, I not only know the news at home and abroad, but also improve my reading ability. Besides, I often use e-mail to communicate with my friends in English. The Olympic Games
The Olympic Games are held every four years in a different city in the world. Athletes from different countries compete in a variety of sports which are divided into winter and sum mer games.
The Olympics began in Greece more than 2 700 years ago. The first recorded Olympic competition was held in 776 B. C. It was held in an outdoor stadium and about forty thousand people watched the event. The first thirteen Olympics consisted of only one race running. The games had been held regularly for about 1 200 years. Then, in the year 397 the Olympics were prohibited by the Roman Emporor.
It was not until 1896 that the first Olympics of modern times were held in Athens. From then on the games are held every four years rugularly. The Olympics have become the world's most important athletic events and a symbol of sporting friendship of all the people of the world.

四个表兄妹好久没有聚会了，趁着寒假，我们又聚在一起，开心地欢乐，开心的玩耍。随着年龄的增长，我们的游戏也逐年升级，这不，今年又不约而同地学起了下五子棋。为了检验谁的棋技更高一筹，我们决定在爷爷的院子里举行一场别开生面的五子棋淘汰赛，为了使比赛公平公证，我们请来两位铁面无私的裁判——爷爷和婆婆。
为了公平对决，我们动用了“石头、剪子、布”。真是“好运当头”第一场由我和哥哥下，我信心十足，坚信自己一定能当擂主。一开场，我对哥哥使出浑身解数。而哥哥也摩拳擦掌，自信百倍。岂料，我的棋一会儿向西被堵，一会儿向东被堵，飘忽不定的棋子，搞得哥哥晕头转向，疲惫不堪，终于弃拍投降，我不由得得意忘形。第二回合开始了，我还沉浸在刚才的喜悦中。而身手不凡的表姐早已识破了我的战略，每次都能轻而易下好棋，甚至是猛烈地还击、扣杀，这下轮到我疲于奔命，而哥哥又在一旁喝倒彩，这真是“火上浇油”，让我心急如焚，后面几个棋回得更是糟糕，终因抵制不住而被淘汰。可怜我这个擂主梦是昙花一现，只能是“关羽失荆州——骄兵必败”。轮到自诩“棋神”的表哥上场了，也只有他俩才有得拼，大战三十几个回合。终于还是“久经沙场”的表姐略胜一筹，成为我们四人中的姣姣者。
望着表姐因赢得外公外婆的夸奖而眉飞色舞的表情，我内心只能佩服她的实力。更坚定以后一定得谦虚。谦虚使人进步，骄傲使人落后的古训，真是永远错不了千古真理，我要时刻铭记在心，激励自己不断进取
一个快乐而短暂的寒假悄悄地来临，发生在寒假的趣事就像天空中的星星，数不胜数，是我心头不可抹杀的一件件往事。每一颗星星都闪闪发亮，每一件往事都刻骨铭心。
