約翰.F.當瑟的麻煩從他和他的朋友查理一走進龍頭賓館時就開始了。他們一起走向接待處，約翰說：「晚上好，我得名字叫當瑟，我的（名字的）首字母是J F.，我已經在這兒訂了一間房，我能取一下我的鑰匙嗎？」
服務員說：「歡迎入住，先生，但我們不允許把寵物帶進賓館。」
「寵物？！」約翰驚叫道，「查理可不是寵物，我盲了，它是我的眼睛，它帶我到任何地方，是嗎，查理？」
查理吠了一聲，聽起來好像在說「是」。
「對不起，先生，」服務員重復道，「但賓館的規定是……」
