第一個問題，你要判斷這個「插入語」是什麼，首先要判斷後面是一個什麼從句，是定語從句，還是賓語從句，這兩個是最容易弄混的。其實不難區分，如果是定語從句，那麼必定有一個先行詞，而賓語從句一般直接跟在動詞後面。在這個句子中，reach後面並沒有一個名詞來做先行詞，所以這是一個賓語從句，而賓語從句是不能用which來引導的，一般引導詞有what, when, where等。這里為什麼用what而不用where我相信你已經明白的吧？
第二個問題。一個句子的基本結構只有兩種，一種是主謂賓，一種是主系表。賓語是跟在謂語動詞後面的，而表語是跟在系動詞後面的。系動詞有如下幾種：1，be 動詞，如am, is, are.
2, 感官動詞，如feel, sound, smell等
3，持續性動詞，如keep, stay
4, 還有一些如look, seem, become等
我只列舉了一些常用的，還有很多太復雜就不一一列舉了。
表語從句和賓語從句用法差不多，如果你會賓語從句，表語從句就很容易掌握了

第三個問題，這是一個定語從句問題。樓主的意思是可以把that省略對不對？that是整個定語從句的引導詞，只有當先行詞在從句中充當賓語的成分時，引導詞才可以省略。而在這個句子中，定語從句缺少的是一個主語，因此that不能省略
