2.状语从句
英语的句子类型分为三种：简单句，并列句和复合句。从句与主句合在一起被称为复合句。在复合句中修饰主句中的动词、形容词和副词等的从句叫做状语从句。状语从句根据它表达的意思可分为时间、地点、原因、目的、结果、让步、比较、方式和条件状语从句。
本单元中出现了以if引导的条件状语从句，该从句修饰主句中的动词，表示该动作发生的前提条件。
需要引起注意的是，如果主句中的谓语动词为将来时，以if引导的条件状语从句则用一般现在时。看下面的例子。
We will have a meeting if it doesn’t rain.如果天不下雨，我们要开会。

从以上例句中不难看出，以if引导的条件状语从句可以置于句子开头，通常与主句以逗号相隔，也可以放在主句后面。
