英語裡面是沒有語氣詞這一詞類的，只有感嘆詞這一詞類（德語和俄語里有語氣詞這一詞類）。
感嘆詞多用於表示喜怒哀樂等情感或情緒，沒有一定的實意，是一種虛詞，不能在句子里構成任何句子成分，只和全句有關聯，作獨立成分，也可以獨立成句。如：

常用的感嘆詞有：
ah 啊（表示驚奇，高興，同意，注意，h出現在母音字母後面是不發音的）
aha 啊哈（表示得意，高興）
