把口語課上成活動課試探
廣州市是較早在小學開設英語課的地區之一,到目前為止,天河區大部分學校一至六年級都開設了英語課,英語特色基本形成。但眾所周知,有些學校對一、二年級的口語課不夠重視,往往是把口語課「搭配」給教中、高年段的英語老師,而這些老師又由於受到諸多因素的影響,都覺得口語課不好上或上課的氣氛、效果不理想。久而久之,學生也可能會對英語產生厭學情緒,這是與口語課的開設目的相悖的。因此,如何上好口語課是一個不容忽視的問題,很值得探討。我去年擔任學校一、二年級的口語教學任務後,一直在探索著如何不斷提高學生課堂上學習英語的興趣。小學生好奇心強,模仿性強,「愛動」是他們的天性。於是我在教學中順應孩子們的成長規律,以教促長,激發學生的學習興趣,讓孩子們積極參與,在輕松愉快的氛圍中上好口語課,學中樂,樂中學;把單純的口語課上成活動課,使學生在動中學,學中動,充滿樂趣地學習語言,培養運用語言的能力。現結合自己多年的教學實踐,談談對上好口語課的一些初淺認識。
一、創設並利用交際情景組織課堂教學
教學中創設各種活動情景,使知識的系統性、活動的操作性、審美的愉悅性融為一體。強調特定的氛圍,引起無意注意,激發孩子們熱烈的情緒,在優化的情緒中主動地活動起來,產生動機、體驗情感,感知和運用語言、通過觀察、聽、想、說、觸等一系列活動,加上卡片、掛圖、音樂、唱歌、游戲創設的情景,進行語言訓練,使學生有身臨其境的感覺,在感受中學習語言,訓練聽說能力。
1、教師設置情景,學生積極參與。首先我在引入課題學習新知識或在上課過程的環節銜接上下功夫,創設一定情境,啟發學生感知語言的意義,如教「Glad to see you.」這個句子時,我先走到教師門口,請學生注意看和聽,並猜猜我說的是什麼意思,然後我面帶微笑,快步走到一位同學跟前說「Glad to see you.」並和他親切的握手。我接著又重復了幾遍,這樣學生自然而然地懂得了意思,且能把聽到的句子「Glad to see you.」說出口。最後,我趁熱打鐵,引出「Glad to see you, too.」跟著小組練說,再上台表演。這樣,把單調的教單詞、句子的方法變成多彩的方式,激起學生學習英語的興趣。
2、「景中有我」。學生自己扮演角色,置身於情景之中。讓學生在學習過程中扮演生活的角色,如:「爸爸、媽媽、爺爺、奶奶」等。他們往往會感到親切無比,樂不可支。同時,童話角色是孩子們最喜歡扮演的,童話的魅力,使學生們增添了無窮的活力和趣味,他們的主動性大大增強,從而更好地在情景活動中學會英語和說英語的能力,領會和運用語言。
3、情景教學中不可忽視的背景知識教學。創設好的語言環境固然是十分重要與必須的,但是忽略了語言的背景知識,將不可能提高在正確的語境中運用語言的能力。語言交際能力就是把語言運用到實際生活中進行交流的能力。因此,了解英語國家的社會文化,風俗習慣等背景知識,才能正確、恰當使用英語口語。如我在教「How old are you?」時,我問學生「How old are you?」學生回答「I`m seven.」反過來,學生問我時,我只回答:「It`s a secret」並向學生解釋這句話使用的場合及其背景知識,使學生得以正確使用語言,無形中英語對學生的吸引力也有增無減。
二、調動學生以最佳狀態投入學習活動
活潑、愛動是孩子們的天性。怎樣使他們「動」?怎樣使「動中學,學中動」有機會結合?我認為要全方位把學生調動起來,動腦、動口、動手、動耳、動眼,以最佳狀態投入學習活動。如:每節課的熱身環節一唱英語歌,我都會叫學生一起唱,一邊跟著節奏一起拍掌(或做其他與歌曲內容有關相協調的動作)。這樣,即使個別同學在調皮,他在如此熱烈的氣氛中也無暇去搞小動作了。又如:學習動物的單詞或動物所說的話時,可根據各種動物的特點用形態表現出來,rabbit(兔子),可把雙手食指和中指伸直放在頭頂上,再離開座位蹦跳一下;ck(鴨子),可把兩只手掌放在一塊擺動;tiger(老虎),可做老虎狀,雙手一張,嘴一咧就撲向獵物,於是各種各樣的動物就活靈活現地展現出來了。教句子亦可見機行事讓學生動起來,如我教「Let`s play together.」時,鼓勵學生想像,允許邀請人和被邀請者起立做出各種「play」的動作。當然,活動課中的「動」不是追求形式的生動,而是通過學生的活動,充實教學內容,豐富教學形式,讓學生樂中學,學中樂。
三、加快師生課堂上的節奏
「快」,並不是老師的語速快,內容多,而是教師上課節奏快和學生反映快、思維快、訓練速度的節奏快,進行多形式、多手段、多環節的課堂訓練,體現出「節奏快」的教學特點。小學生注意力集中的時間短暫,且注意力易分散。一旦教學節奏慢了,就會出現學生做小動作或小聲說話等注意力不集中的現象。為避免這一點,教師應抓住注意力集中的短暫時刻,以學生能接受的節奏進行有利的引導,如游戲、唱歌、猜謎、做動作、搶答競賽等。通過快節奏、大容量、大密度、多形式的一環扣一環的活動,使學生緊隨教學內容,既緊張又活潑,學生積極性高、不厭倦。學生訓練密度大,熟練程度就顯而易見,學生也就積極參與活動。
四、經常更換教學手段
若長期不更換教學形式或手段,學生的學習興趣就明顯不高,會感受到索然無味,產生不愛上英語課的傾向,為防止學生產生厭煩心理,教師要根據教材內容,有機利用教學掛圖、投影片、動畫錄像片、錄音機、簡筆畫、講故事、童謠、歌曲、游戲等多種形式,經常更換教學手段,常常讓學生保持新鮮感:上完一節英語課後,心裡想著下一節英語課老師要上什麼新知識呢?又會有什麼新的競賽形式呢?這樣,學生帶著慾望去學習,求知慾加強,便能學到更多的語言知識,並能交際使用。這反過來更能在口語課中活動得更出色,目的就完全達到了:通過多種游藝化教學激發學生學習興趣,讓學生們在聽聽說說、唱唱玩玩中打好外語口語的基礎。
綜上所述,我認為,把口語課上成活動課是完全可行的。如果我們把英語口語課上成活動課,不但可使教師從教得索然無味的境地中解脫出來,而且能使學生會說、敢說、多說、常說,養成愛說英語的良好習慣。
