去國外，日常 英語對話：

1. Hold on 等一下 (口語中，人們不太用 a minute)如果兩人辯論，吵架，抬杠，你要別人「打住」，可以說，hold it right there.

2. I hate his guts. 我最討厭他。也有說I hate him guts. Guts 是腸子，相當於「恨之入骨」的意思。He doesn』t have much guts. 他是個膽小鬼。 ut feeling 直覺

3. Nuts, 果仁，核，為復數時，意為「瘋子」，He is nuts。他有神經病。He went nuts and killed a guy.他發瘋了，結果殺了一個人。You are driving me nuts. 你真是要把我逼瘋。a tough nut to crack, 一項艱巨的任務，一個難解之題

4. How is everything? (還好嗎?) I am just stuck in a rut, doing the same things every day. I wish I could do something different. (煩死了，每天都是干同樣的活，我真想換個活法。) rut 日常的，每天都如此，get in a rut，日復一日，天天如此

5. I have totally sold out to your idea. 我100%地贊同贊同你的意見。類似的話還有If you are not careful enough, you will buy into his bad idea. 如果你不小心的話，你就會採納他的這餿主意。

6. I am just ecstatic about going to visit you soon. 馬上要見你，我高興死了。

7. A dap and dip 打個照面，露下臉就走。
Matt: Are we going to Jon』s party?我們去瓊的聚會嗎?

9. Yukky 難吃，說這個詞時還要做一個難吃的表情。Where did you get this food? It was yukky. 你從哪裡弄了這吃的?那麼難吃。

10. 與yukky相反的詞是yummy，好吃極了。說這個詞時，要不然就把音拖一下，要不然說它兩次，表示你真的喜歡主人做的這道菜。

11 I cannot take it any more.我再也無法忍受了。前面還可以加上一句：don』t push me. 不要再逼我呀。 同樣意思的句子還有：I cannot stand him any longer.

12 Don』t take it out on me! 不要把氣出在我身上。

13 You have my word. 我向你保證(是這樣)。

14 Look, I have got going. 就這樣了，我還得幹活呢(還得趕路)。這是向人告辭的說法。

15 You talk crazy. 你滿嘴胡言。相當於you talk nonsense之意。 從語法上看，將形容詞放在動詞後不是很正規，但人家都這么說，也就可以將就了。

16 I don』t mean to cross the line. 直譯是「我不想越界」。這句話的意思是，我並不是想管閑事呀，只是隨便問問。「I don』t mean to cross the line, is she your new girl friend ?」

17 Thank you for .....(the tea, and so on), and everything else. 謝謝你的(茶水款待)，以及一切。當你向人道謝時，你一下只想起了一件具體的事，但又接受了不止一項的好處，就加上一句 and everything else，這樣就不會漏謝什麼了。

18 I won』t take that crap.我才不會信那套鬼話。也可以說：I won』t buy that beef.同樣的意思。

19 Calm down. 不要激動好不好?

20 sick 惡心 you make me sick. 你叫我惡心。 People do sick things to young girls nowadays. 現在總有人對小女孩做那些惡心的事。 He is sick. 如果你把sick一詞念得很重，意思就是「他令人惡心。」如果念得不重，意思就只是「他病了。」 所以要小心。

至於單詞，可以帶本英漢小詞典或者電子詞典，隨身就行了。
一般到美國，需要兩個月左右的適應，以後就相對容易了。

『陸』 英語口語對話

提高口語練習法則6條
第一，如何用英文簡單界定一個東西的技巧。美國人和美國人交談80％是想告訴對方這個事物是什麼。我們的課本盡管詞彙難度不斷加深，但思維邏輯結構卻只停留在一個水平上。中國人常說Where is the book（這本書在哪兒）？很少有人說What is a book（書是什麼）？而美國的小學生就開始問：What is the book？這種Where is the book只是思維的描述階段。但是我想連大學生也很難回答What is a book？因為中國傳統英語教學模式沒有教會學生表達思想的技巧。
第二，如果已經學會界定，但理解還有偏差，那就要訓練How to explain things in different ways（用不同的方式解釋同一事物）。一種表達式對方不懂，美國人會尋找另一種表達式最終讓對方明白。因為事物就一個，但表達它的語言符號可能會很多。這就要多做替換練習。傳統的教學方法也做替換練習，但這種替換不是真替換，只是語言層面的替換，而不是思維層面的替換。比如，I love you（我愛你）。按我們教學的替換方法就把you換成her，my mother等，這種替換和小學生練描紅沒有什麼區別。這種替換沒有對智力構成挑戰，沒有啟動思維。這種替換句子的基本結構沒變，我聽不懂I love you，肯定也聽不懂I love her。如果替換為I want to kiss you，I want to hug you，I will show my heart to you等，或者給對方講電影《泰坦尼克》，告訴對方那就是愛，這樣一來對方可能就明白了。這才叫真正的替換。也就是說用一種不同的方式表達同一個意思，或者一個表達式對方聽不清楚，舉一個簡單易懂的例子來表達，直到對方明白。
第三，我們必須學會美國人怎樣描述東西。從描述上來講，由於中美的文化不同會產生很大的差異。我們描述東西無外乎把它放在時間和空間兩個坐標上去描述。美國人對空間的描述總是由內及外，由里及表。而中國人正好相反。從時間上來說，中國人是按自然的時間順序來描述。我們描述一個東西突然停住時，往往最後說的那個地方是最重要的。美國人在時間的描述上先把最重要的東西說出來，然後再說陪襯的東西。只有發生悲劇性的事件，美國人才在前面加上鋪墊。這就是中國人和美國人在時間描述上的巨大差別。
第四，要學會使用重要的美國習語。不容易學、易造成理解困惑的東西就是「習語」。比如北京人說蓋了帽兒了，外國人很難理解，這就是習語。所以和美國人交流時，能適當地運用美國習語，他馬上就會覺得很親切，也很愛和你交流。那麼什麼是習語？就是每個單詞你都認識，但把它們組合在一起，你就不知道是什麼意思了。
第五，學會兩種語言的傳譯能力。這是衡量口語水平的一個最重要標准。因為英語不是我們的母語，我們天生就有自己的母語。很多人都認為學好外語必須丟掉自己的母語，這是不對的。
第六，要有猜測能力。為什麼美國人和美國人、中國人和中國人之間交流很少產生歧義？就是因為他們之間能「猜測」。我們的教學不提倡「猜測」。但我覺得猜測對學好美國口語很重要。在交流中，有一個詞你沒有聽懂，你不可能馬上去查字典，這時候就需要猜測來架起一座橋梁來彌補這個缺口，否則交流就會中斷。
中國人學習口語講究背誦，背句型、背語調，結果就是很多人講口語的時候講著講著眼就開始向上翻，實際上是在記憶中尋找曾經背過的東西。如果他要是能猜測的話，我想也就不會出現這種現象。
以上就是我所說的學會用美國人思維方式的6個技巧。中國學生如果能做到這6點，用較短的時間肯定能學好口語。
再說說英語語音的問題。我們中國人不需要鑽牛角尖，一定追求發音像一個本地人，只要我們的發音不至於讓對方產生誤解就可以了。我們在平時，不需要迷信什麼科學方法，只需要記住一點：模仿。但一定要模仿標準的英語或美語。在模仿的基礎上，每天保持1個小時的自我口語練習，這個練習必須假想一個雙向交流的場合，即彷彿有人與你交流一樣。
最後，講講英語的用氣問題。我們在發音時，盡量氣運丹田，而避免用肺發音，這可以使英語發音洪亮圓潤

ELIZA: This place is great. I'm surprised they have so much.
JANE: Yes, but it takes a while to find things.
It's not organized as carefully as a regular store.
ELIZA: I never shopped in an outlet before. We don't have any in my hometown.
Why do they call it an "outlet"?
JANE: Sometimes a clothes company makes too many of one item.
They can't sell it all in their regular stores. So they send the overstock to an outlet.
That's why they call it an "outlet".
It's a store that "let's out" procts the company can't sell in regular stores.
ELIZA: And they have faulty procts here too.
JANE: Yes. A "faulty proct" may be a shirt that has some problem.
Or a pair of pants that is ripped a little.
Sometimes the fault is very small. So it's a good deal to buy it.
Sometimes, if you have a needle and thread, you can fix it yourself.
ELIZA: I like to sew, so that's easy for me.
I think it's a really good deal. Some of these shirts have only one tiny mistake on them.

JANE: I know.
So it's a good idea to shop in an outlet sometimes. You can save a lot of money.
ELIZA: That's great for me.
Now that Steve and I have the baby, we want to save as much as we can.
CASHIER: Cash or credit, Ma'am?
ELIZA: Credit.
JANE: Wow! How many of those sweatshirts are you buying?
ELIZA: I have six here.

Tom: "Oh, I had a great time. The food there was great although I did not like the way they cook potatoes. The teachers are all very kind except the maths teacher, he spoke too softly and I could not understand him."

Tom: "Oh yes, I played lots of football and basketball. You know what, we will have a brand new swimming pool next term, isn't that great?"
Tom's mom: "Wow, that sounds fantastic! Any other interesting news?"
Tom: "Let me think.......oh yes, we had a new classmate, she is from Shanghai, China. She doesn't speak much English and I had to gesture to her most of the time. This is kind of fun."
Tom's mom: "Oh well, you seem to be really enjoying yourself."
