おじいさん（這個是爺爺，姥爺的稱呼）日語中的稱呼有點像英語，不分父系和母系。
奶奶的發音有點像大嬸，大嬸是歐巴桑，是零調。而奶奶的發音是歐罷——桑，那個ば加あ讀作長音，要拖一拍。
而爺爺發音與叔叔發音有點像，叔叔是歐吉（把這個字讀第一聲）桑，而爺爺的讀法是歐吉（第四聲）——桑，同樣是長音。
