老鷹是世界上壽命最長的鳥類。它一生的年齡可達七十歲。但要活那麼長的壽命，它在四十歲時，必須做出困難卻重要的決定！
當老鷹活到四十歲時，它的爪子開始老化，無法有效地抓住獵物。它的啄變得又長又彎，幾乎碰到胸膛。它的翅膀變得十分沉重，因為它的羽毛長得又濃又厚。使得飛翔十分吃力！它只有兩種選擇：1.等死,2.歷經一個十分痛苦的蛻變過程;一百五十天漫長的魔練。
它必須很努力地飛到山頂。 在懸崖上築巢。停留在那裡。不得飛翔。老鷹首先用它的喙擊打岩石，直到喙完全脫落。然後靜靜地等候新的喙長出來。然後，它要再用新長出的喙，把指甲一根一根的拔出來。當新的指甲長出來後，它們便再把羽毛一根一根的拔掉。五個月以後，新的羽毛長出來了。老鷹開始飛翔。重新再過神鷹一般的三十年歲月！
在我們的生命中，有時候我們也必須做出困難的決定。開始一個更新的過程。我們必須把舊的習慣，舊的束縛拋棄,使得我們可以重新飛翔。
只要我們願意放下舊的包袱，願意學習新的事物,我們才有機會能發揮我們的潛能，開創另一個嶄新的未來。
