《烏鴉喝水》創作背景：

伊索(公元前620年～公元前560年)，公元前6世紀古希臘著名的寓言家，與克雷洛夫、拉·封丹和萊辛並稱世界四大寓言家。他曾是薩摩斯島雅德蒙家的奴隸，曾被轉賣多次．但因知識淵博，聰穎過人，最後獲得自由。之後，伊索開始環游世界，為人們講述他的寓言故事，受到古希臘人民的喜愛。

公元前5世紀末，「伊索」這個名字已是古希臘人盡皆知的名字了，當時的古希臘寓言都歸在他的名下。伊索並沒有寫下他的寓言，他完全憑記憶口授。現在常見的《伊索寓言傳》，是後人根據拜占庭僧侶普拉努得斯搜集的寓言以及後來陸陸續續發現的古希臘寓言傳抄本編訂的。
