價值取向與主題教學
——《珍珠鳥》一課的啟示
10月27日至29日上午在東南大學的大禮堂由東南大學中國語言文學系和南京師范大學教育學系共同主辦了「第三屆 『現代與經典 』全國小學語文教學觀摩研討會」。筆者趕上了最後半天的活動,終於欣賞到了心儀已久的竇桂梅老師和孫雙金老師的課。竇桂梅老師執教的《珍珠鳥》一課引起了聽課老師的一些不同意見。原因大概出在第二教時。人給予鳥的信賴創造出了美好的境界是竇老師第一教時引導學生解讀文本得出的結論。而第二教時,竇老師根據主題教學的特點,匠心獨具,以「大鳥在籠里生氣地叫……」和「天色入暮,它就在父母的再三呼喚聲中……」兩句契入,引導學生思考:鳥對於人的又是一種怎樣的信賴時,學生的反應出現了與老師的預設相悖的情況,而且還不止一生,甚至有學生跟老師有一辯究竟的意味。這不由引發了我的一些思考。
「主題」不是思想主題,不是知識主題,也不是寫作主題,而是文化主題……(竇桂梅語)「主題教學是要從生命的層次,用動態生成的觀念,重新全面認識課堂教學,整體構建課堂教學。簡單說,它圍繞一定的主題,充分重視個體經驗,通過與多個文本的碰撞交融,在重過程的生成理解中,實現課程主題意義意建構的一種開放性教學。」(《竇桂梅與主題教學》)竇老師本著這樣的初衷對文本進行了重構運用。她提煉的「主題」是「信賴」——人與鳥的信賴和鳥與人的信賴。這樣一個文化意義上的主題並不復雜。竇老師在第二課時告訴學生,從森林裡捉一隻鳥並成功地運到養鳥人的手中要付出二十隻的代價,即從捉到運到賣給買主的過程中,二十隻的珍珠鳥只能有一隻存活下來。然後她問學生:大鳥為什麼在籠里生氣地叫?學生回答:大鳥忘不了人類對它們的傷害;大鳥喜歡寶寶,擔心小鳥受到危害,不願它與人交往……於是竇老師又提供了歐陽修的「始知鎖向金籠聽,不及林間自在啼」等古詩,幫助學生體會鳥籠的可惡,鳥兒失去自由的可悲。可是,當竇老師問學生:如果你是作者或者你是珍珠鳥你會想到什麼會怎麼做時,有不少學生不同意把小鳥放歸大自然。學生們的理由是:在鳥籠里不愁吃喝,又安全,外面反而有危險。老師又進一步的引導:鳥兒的翅膀是用來做什麼的呢?如果你是有一雙翅膀的鳥你會怎樣?可是孩子仍然堅持自己的意見。竇老師最後只好說:「好了,我們不說了,說也說不清!……」
什麼地方出了問題?我想問題應該出在竇老師的主題的確立上。作者給予了鳥應有的關懷和尊重獲得了小珍珠鳥的信賴,所以才會出現小傢伙趴在作者肩頭睡熟的美好境界。可是在大珍珠鳥對人的信賴方面,竇老師想讓學生明白由於人類對鳥類的傷害,已無信賴可言,所以大鳥才會生氣地叫,才會再三地呼喚小鳥。竇老師想讓學生明白,人類應該愛護小鳥,應該給它們以自由,給它們以合適的生存家園和幸福生活。這樣鳥與人之間才會建立起一種平等的信賴關系。超越文本所選擇的一些古詩用意也概在於此。
這樣的主題選擇恰當嗎?我們不妨看看文本的價值取向。「信賴,往往可以創造出美好的境界。」人和鳥之間要和諧相處,當是文本所倡導的價值取向。正因這種和諧相處才產生了信賴,才產生出這種美好而動人的情景。文本的描寫給予學生的正是這樣一種暗示,它並沒有「告訴」學生人類或是作者是如何的傷害珍珠鳥兒,相反的它「告訴」學生,無論是大鳥還是「小傢伙」都已經對作者產生了信賴。這樣的暗示,你再讓學生把鳥與人的關系放到對立面去,學生就很難接受這樣的反差了。從這點來看,竇老師對文本主題的選擇和提煉在超越文本的同時已經在一定程度上與文本的價值取向相悖離。你在第一節課中帶著學生那麼細膩地學習體會人與鳥之間的信賴,學生當然就不會同意把珍珠鳥放了。因為作者並沒有傷害珍珠鳥,小鳥在這兒生活得很好,要是放出去了就一定安全、自由、幸福了嗎?起碼在孩子的心裡產生這樣的想法是無可厚非的。由此我想,根據這樣的課文內容,在確立教學主題時,我們是否可以不必牽涉到諸如培育學生保護環境愛護動物等等過大的文化背景呢?在提倡對文本的多元解讀時,我們要尊重文本的價值取向;那麼在進行主題教學時我們是否也該尊重文本的價值取向呢?因為主題教學的主題是文化意義上的,所以主題的內涵比價值取向更豐厚,它可以超越文本的價值取向,比如竇老師對《晏子使楚》的主題確立,但是這種超越應以文本的價值取向為基礎,而不能相悖,否則學生就可能陷入文本的價值取向和教師確立的主題之間的巨大反差中而茫無所從。這恐怕是竇桂梅老師《珍珠鳥》一課給我最深的啟示。
