He worked very hard and became sick. Dr Bethune died in 1939. He was only 49 years old. He was a good man and we remember him today.

When you pick on path, it's natual to wonder about the others, especially if the path you've cosen gets rocky. In our whole life there will be many times for us to face the headaches, path picking, among them , some are important, the other are less, but whatever paths appear before you, all of them will take time and offorts for us to make the choice carefully so as to arrive the destination we're anticipating.
But sometimes the question is not the path picking, it's the question that we will be skeptical to what you've chosen originally, then go to other directions imagining that the sceneris of somewhere else must be more beautiful. It's natural for us. But the path you are now riding on must be stable within a certain time once you've picked it up. Actually you may go beyond the path a little sometime, so you have to be alert all the time to observe if you are in the right direction, if not, turn fine yourself onto the right one.

個人認為，英語的學習歸根到底就在於2個詞：一是堅持，二是興趣。
怎麼樣堅持？就是要一天學一點，一天進步一點，緊緊咬住，不要荒廢。而在學英語的各個環節中，無論聽說讀寫，如果單詞量不足的話，就會感覺寸步難行，因此背單詞是一個繞不過去的中心環節。最好就是給自己規定個短期目標，一天要記多少個單詞，完成為止。也許學其他的科目可能還有捷徑可以走，但要學好英語真的沒有捷徑。有不少朋友問我，怎麼樣才能快速學好英語？我都只能搖頭，沒有辦法，只能堅持：讀，聽，看，背，除此之外別無他法。不過，相比於其它科目，學英語也有一個優勢，就是不需要整塊的時間，我們可以在排隊等候的時候、在其它零碎的閑暇時間裡面，記上幾個英語單詞或知識點，既利用了時間，又填補了空閑，也不失為一舉兩得。
但背單詞畢竟是枯燥的，這就需要一種激發自己興趣的辦法。俗話說興趣是最好的老師。這種興趣不單單從考試的角度出發，而是通過對英語的熟練和語感越來越好，逐漸體會到它音韻和形式的美，從而產生更好地掌握英語的願望，對英語的興趣自然會水漲船高的。比如，可以玩玩英語游戲，看看英語MTV或英語原聲電影，參加英語沙龍，或者到英文網站閱讀英文新聞等。由於英語統考的時候不需要考聽和說，我們從事醫療工作的，平時一般也缺乏聽說英語的機會，因此我是以閱讀為主來提高自己的英語興趣和水平的。可以閱讀的英文學習資料非常多，主要是要根據自己的水平選擇適合的材料，以讀起來有點吃力，但不影響對整篇的理解為適宜的難度。在有不懂的生詞存在時仍然能夠領會文章的意思，這是我們必須訓練出來的能力。當你發現英語也成為你通向豐富知識的路徑時，你自然而然就會體驗到駕馭這門語言的樂趣。
在英語統考的時候，第一卷是選擇題，其中語法和情景對話的單選題考的是知識點，我認為對於這部分關鍵是要快，即快速做出判斷，不必鑽牛角尖。閱讀理解是得分大戶，考的是整體的理解，我覺得在閱讀理解上多花一點時間來斟酌相對比較值得。第二卷是翻譯和作文，雖然只有30分，但如果拿不到18分以上，即使全卷過60分也要被判為不合格。做漢譯英的題最害怕的是被個別詞卡住了，這個時候，就要避免在一個詞上空耗時間，而是盡快找個意義近似的詞或片語來代替。另外就是作文的問題。短時間內提高英語作文能力，最有效的辦法就是背熟若干篇範文，然後在考試時用題材相似的範文的格式和句型去套。但我認為平時多練習英語寫作還是很重要的，最好每個星期寫一兩篇，除了訓練作文這一塊外，對提高漢譯英的能力，對英文語感和興趣的培養也大有裨益。
以上是我個人學習英語的一點心得體會。大家在學習上都是久經考驗的好手，每人都有自己的獨門功夫。但願我的方法能夠再帶給大家一點幫助。

Helen Keller would not be bound by conditions. Rendered deaf and blind at 19 months by scarlet fever, she learned to read (in several languages) and even speak, eventually graating with honors from Radcliffe College in 1904, where as a student she wrote The Story of My Life. That she accomplished all of this in an age when few women attended college and the disabled were often relegated to the background, spoken of only in hushed tones, is remarkable. But Keller's many other achievements are impressive by any standard: she authored 13 books, wrote countless articles, and devoted her life to social reform. An active and effective suffragist, pacifist, and socialist (the latter association earned her an FBI file), she lectured on behalf of disabled people everywhere. She also helped start several foundations that continue to improve the lives of the deaf and blind around the world.
As a young girl Keller was obstinate, prone to fits of violence, and seething with rage at her inability to express herself. But at the age of 7 this wild child was transformed when, at the urging of Alexander Graham Bell, Anne Sullivan became her teacher, an event she declares "the most important day I remember in all my life." (Sullivan herself had once been blind, but partially recovered her sight after a series of operations.) In a memorable passage, Keller writes of the day "Teacher" led her to a stream and repeatedly spelled out the letters w-a-t-e-r on one of her hands while pouring water over the other. This method proved a revelation: "That living world awakened my soul, gave it light, hope, joy, set it free! There were barriers still, it is true, but barriers that could in time be swept away." And, indeed, most of them were.
In her lovingly crafted and deeply perceptive autobiography, Keller's joyous spirit is most vividly expressed in her connection to nature:
Indeed, everything that could hum, or buzz, or sing, or bloom, had a part in my ecation.... Few know what joy it is to feel the roses pressing softly into the hand, or the beautiful motion of the lilies as they sway in the morning breeze. 首先，我們要明白
學習英語絕不是看一部動畫片，不是一蹴而就的事。要想不下一番苦功夫、不費一點力氣就能學好英語，那是絕對辦不到的。因此，我們學習英語時，一定要有信心，要有耐心，循序漸進地堅持學習下去，這樣才會有收獲。
第二，要想學好英語，就得先從聽、說入手。課上認真聽老師講，聽同學們說，自己積極舉手發言，大膽地去講英語。
課下多聽錄音帶，反復練習，盡量模仿正確的語音語調。每天堅持讀半個小時的英語。人們常說的「拳不離手，曲不離口」，就是這個道理。
第三，要想學好英語，就得有股子韌勁兒。學過的生詞和句子一定要記住，真正掌握它，千萬別把希望只放在考前的突擊記憶上。期中、期末考試時，成百上千的單詞怎麼能一下子背下來呢？所以，記單詞一定要日積月累，備一個小本兒隨身攜帶就更好。比如今天學了10個單詞，記住了7個，其餘3個怎麼也記不住，這時你就可以把它們記到小本子上。小本子隨身帶，有空你就掏出來，看它幾眼，說它幾遍。看的次數多了，說的次數多了，再難記的單詞也能記住。當然，記生詞最好連句子一塊記效果更好，這樣記得牢。通過句子記新單詞，不但擴大了詞彙量，而且還記了單詞的用法，真是一舉兩得。
