Helen Keller would not be bound by conditions. Rendered deaf and blind at 19 months by scarlet fever, she learned to read (in several languages) and even speak, eventually graating with honors from Radcliffe College in 1904, where as a student she wrote The Story of My Life. That she accomplished all of this in an age when few women attended college and the disabled were often relegated to the background, spoken of only in hushed tones, is remarkable. But Keller's many other achievements are impressive by any standard: she authored 13 books, wrote countless articles, and devoted her life to social reform. An active and effective suffragist, pacifist, and socialist (the latter association earned her an FBI file), she lectured on behalf of disabled people everywhere. She also helped start several foundations that continue to improve the lives of the deaf and blind around the world.
As a young girl Keller was obstinate, prone to fits of violence, and seething with rage at her inability to express herself. But at the age of 7 this wild child was transformed when, at the urging of Alexander Graham Bell, Anne Sullivan became her teacher, an event she declares "the most important day I remember in all my life." (Sullivan herself had once been blind, but partially recovered her sight after a series of operations.) In a memorable passage, Keller writes of the day "Teacher" led her to a stream and repeatedly spelled out the letters w-a-t-e-r on one of her hands while pouring water over the other. This method proved a revelation: "That living world awakened my soul, gave it light, hope, joy, set it free! There were barriers still, it is true, but barriers that could in time be swept away." And, indeed, most of them were.
In her lovingly crafted and deeply perceptive autobiography, Keller's joyous spirit is most vividly expressed in her connection to nature:
Indeed, everything that could hum, or buzz, or sing, or bloom, had a part in my ecation.... Few know what joy it is to feel the roses pressing softly into the hand, or the beautiful motion of the lilies as they sway in the morning breeze. Sometimes I caught an insect in the flower I was plucking, and I felt the faint noise of a pair of wings rubbed together in a sudden terror....
The idea of feeling rather than hearing a sound, or of admiring a flower's motion rather than its color, evokes a strong visceral sensation in the reader, giving The Story of My Life a subtle power and beauty. Keller's celebration of discovery becomes our own. In the end, this blind and deaf woman succeeds in sharpening our eyes and ears to the beauty of the world.

In our whole life there will be many times for us to face the headaches, path picking, among them , some are important, the other are less, but whatever paths appear before you, all of them will take time and offorts for us to make the choice carefully so as to arrive the destination we're anticipating.
But sometimes the question is not the path picking, it's the question that we will be skeptical to what you've chosen originally, then go to other directions imagining that the sceneris of somewhere else must be more beautiful. It's natural for us. But the path you are now riding on must be stable within a certain time once you've picked it up. Actually you may go beyond the path a little sometime, so you have to be alert all the time to observe if you are in the right direction, if not, turn fine yourself onto the right one.

He worked very hard and became sick. Dr Bethune died in 1939. He was only 49 years old. He was a good man and we remember him today.

寒假期間，我讀了《怎樣成為一名優秀的英語教師》這本書感受頗深。本書從始至終貫穿一條主旨就是：要實現有效教學，人力資源勝過技術資源。而且書中特別強調，教師所能利用和開發的最重要的人力資源就是自己的個人品質或素養。就這一點我做為一個老老師深有體會。做一名優秀的教師應該具備的一些素質及條件，對這一點我作了以下幾個思考。
首先、必須具有豐富的英語專業理論知識，英語教師沒有較高的專業水平，也就談不上優秀。
第二、必須具有良好的道德品質和人格魅力，熱愛教育事業，熱愛本職工作，具有奉獻精神，具有強烈的責任感、事業心。這是職業道德要求，一名教師專業能力再強，如果思想上有問題，責任感不強，不喜歡學生，甚至道德品質有問題，他也不可能成為一名優秀的教師。
第三、必須具有系統而全面的教育學、心理學知識，具有較強的教學能力，懂得不同年齡段學生的身心特點，能運用合理的教學方法，使學生得到最大限度的發展。這是教師職業的要求，一名教師雖然有較高的專業水平，也有滿腔的教學熱情，但如果不懂得教育教學規律，其必然會走「彎路」，當然離優秀就還有一段距離了。
第四、必須具備廣博的文化知識和其它藝術學科基礎知識，英語教師除了具備本專業的知識技能外，必須盡力擴寬其它基礎知識的掌握面，以及了解其他學科基本知識技能，並能綜合運用它們進行教學，在廣泛的文化情景中對學生進行教育，陶冶學生的情操，提高學生的素質。這是現代教育的時代要求。
第五、必須具有先進的教學理念，善於吸納新知識，獲取新信息，並善於把這些新理念、新知識、新信息合理的運用到教學實踐中，以保持與時代同步。時代的飛速發展，新學科，新技術，新知識的大量涌現，要求教師必須善於接受新理念、掌握新知識、運用新技術進行教學，優秀教師更應該如此。
第六、優秀教師必須具有創新和探索精神，無論是教學理念的貫徹，還是教學方法的選用都必須與實際需要相吻合，在實踐中得到檢驗，只有結合各地具體情況不斷的探索，大膽的創新，才能不斷找出合符實際需要的東西，以滿足教育教學的時代要求。
第七、必須積極參與教研、教改，一名出色的教師不光能做好教學工作，同時還要善於把教育教學工作中好的經驗總結、歸納出來，並加以推廣；對教育教學工作中不利於學生良好發展，不利於教學工作順利進行的因素即時發現，找出適當的辦法，加以克服；能有效的利用現有環境資源、教學設施、當地特色文化合理地組織教學，運用行之有效的教育教學方法，使學生得到最大限度的發展。
第八、必須熱愛學習、善於學習，樹立終身學習的思想，一名優秀的教師必須是一位愛學、善學的人，只有終身堅持不斷學習，才能不斷的更新自己的知識，保持與時代同步，不至於落後於時代的要求。
當然，要想成為一名出色的教師，最重要的就是要堅持的做下去，做一輩子。

第一項要記的就是單詞。學語言，無疑要記很多東西。詞彙是一門語言的基礎。學習英語的重中回之重答就是詞彙的掌握。有了單詞，才會有句子，有了句子才會有文章，最終才能掌握這門語言。那麼海量的單詞，記住才是關鍵。方法有很多，找最適合自己的。我背單詞的時候，有很多方法，最主要就是根據讀音來拼寫。只要記住它的讀音，基本就能掌握它的拼寫。特殊的情況再特殊記憶。在寫單詞的時候，腦子里先反映出來的是它的讀音，自己根據它的讀音「寫」出來，而不是背出來。如果單純地機械地背字母組合，很容易忘記。很多同學背單詞都是一遍一遍地重復字母組合。比如：背單詞「and」，他就會一遍遍地念and,and ,a,n,d,and我個人不主張這種方法。比如說音譯、聯想等等。比如這個例子：灰塵(st)。我把它聯想為「打死他」的音譯，這樣就很好記了。還有，根據已有的簡單單詞，記住新的單詞。比如這個例子：知道猴子（monkey）這個單詞，把「m」換成「d」就成了驢子（donkey），就變成了一個新的單詞。還有很多這樣的例子，在此不再列舉。除了抽出專門的時間背單詞，平時應該利用好瑣碎的時間來學習單詞，積少成多。
