Every day people throw away mountains of(大量的)rubbish.Have you thought where it all goes and what happens to it?
Most of it goes into "landfills".We do not kown exactly where all these landfills are.And in fact, they are in most of our suburbs, close to where we live.
It may be hard to believe, but most of the cities in China are surrounded by rubbish. But putting the rubbish in landfills takes up too much space.
Another way to get rid of rubbish is to burn it.But this pollutes the air around us.The third way is recycling. This is becoming more popular.Plus,it is much better for our environment.
Q:
1.Every day people throw away mountains of (rubbish).
2.The word "landfills" means (垃圾場).
3.Where we can find the landfills (in most of our suburbs).
4.Another way to get rid of rubbish is to (burn it).

and a heaven in a wild fllower,
hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
and eternity in an hour.

however mean your life is,meet it and live it ;do not shun it and call it hard names.it is not so bad as you are.it looks poorest when you are richest.the fault-finder will find faults in paradise.love your life, poor as it is.you may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hourss, even in a poor-house.the setting sun is reflected from the windows of the alms-house as brightly as from the rich man's abode;the snow melts before its door as early in the spring.i do not see but a quiet mind may live as contentedly there, and have as cheering thoughts,as in a palace.the town's poor seem to me often to live the most independent lives of any.may be they are simply great enough to receive without misgiving.most think that they are above being supported by the town;but it often happens that they are not above supporting themselves by dishonest means.which should be more disreputable.cultivate poverty like a garden herb, like sage.do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends, turn the old, return to them.things do not change;we change.sell your clothes and keep your thoughts.

http://..com/question/9750123.html?si=1There" is no better than "Here"

Many people believe that they will be happy once they arrive at some specific goal they set for themselves. However, more often than not, once you arrive " there" you will still feel dissatisfied, and move your " there" vision to yet another point in the future. By always chasing after another "there," you are never really appreciating what you already have right "here." It is important for human beings to keep soberminded about the age-old drive to look beyond the place where you now stand. On one hand, your life is enhanced by your dreams and aspirations. On the other hand, these drives can pull you farther and farther from your enjoyment of your life right now. By learning the lessons of gratitude and abundance, you can bring yourself closer to fulfilling the challenge of living in the present.

Gratitude To be grateful means you are thankful for and appreciative of what you have and where you are on your path right now. Gratitude fills your heart with the joyful feeling and allows you to fully appreciate everything that arises on your path. As you strive to keep your focus on the present moment, you can experience the full wonder of "here."

There are many ways to cultivate gratitude. Here are just a few suggestions you may wish to try:

1. Imagine what your life would be like if you lost all that you had. This will most surely remind you of how much you do appreciate it.

2. Make a list each day of all that you are grateful for, so that you can stay conscious daily of your blessings. Do this especially when you are feeling as though you have nothing to feel grateful for. Or spend a few minutes before you go to sleep giving thanks for all that you have.

3. Spend time offering assistance to those who are less fortunate than you, so that you may gain perspective.

However you choose to learn gratitude is irrelevant. What really matters is that you create a space in your consciousness for appreciation for all that you have right now, so that you may live more joyously in your present moment.

Abundance One of the most common human fears is scarcity. Many people are afraid of not having enough of what they need or want, and so they are always striving to get to a point when they would finally have enough.

Alan and Linda always dreamed of living "the good life." Both from poor working-class families, they married young and set out to fulfill their mutual goal of becoming wealthy. They both worked very hard for years, amassing a small fortune, so they could move from their two-bedroom home to a palatial seven-bedroom home in the most upscale neighborhood. They focused their energies on accumulating all the things they believed signified abundance: membership in the local exclusive country club, luxury cars, designer clothing, and high-class society friends. No matter how much they accumulated, however, it never seemed to be enough. They were unable to erase the deep fear of scarcity both had acquired in childhood. They needed to learn the lesson of abundance. Then the stock market crashed in 1987, and Alan and Linda lost a considerable amount of money. A bizarre but costly lawsuit depleted another huge portion of their savings. One thing led to another, and they found themselves in a financial disaster. Assets needed to be sold, and eventually they lost the country club membership, the cars, and the house. It took several years and much hard work for Alan and Linda to land on their feet, and though they now live a life far from extravagant, they have taken stock of their lives and feel quite blessed. Only now, as they assess what they have left -- a solid, loving marriage, their health, a dependable income, and good friends -- do they realize that true abundance comes not from amassing, but rather from appreciating.

Scarcity consciousness arises as a result of the "hole-in-the-soul syndrome." This is when we attempt to fill the gaps in our inner lives with things from the outside world. But like puzzle pieces, you can't fit something in where it does not naturally belong. No amount of external objects, affection, love, or attention can ever fill an inner void. We already have enough, so we should revel in our own interior abundance.

Than I can help people . They will not hungry . And I hope I have drug . Own sickness can make good . Then there is no sickness in the world . And I hope there is not bad people in the world . 2..
Once man did not have to think about the protection of his environment. There were few people on the earth, and natural resources seemed to be unlimited.Today things are different. The world has become too crowded. We are using up our natural resources, and polluting our environment with dangerous chemicals. If we continue to do this, human life on earth will not survive. We realize that if too many fish are taken from the sea, there will soon be none left. Yet,with modern fishing methods, more and more fish are caught. We know that if too many trees are cut down, forests will disappear. Yet, we continue to use powerful machines to cut down more and more trees. We see that if rivers are polluted with waste procts, we will die. Yet, waste procts are still put into rivers. We know that if the population continues to rise at the present rate, in a few years, there wont be enough food. What can we do to solve these problems? If we eat more vegetables and less meat, there will be more food available. Land for crops feeds five times more people than land where animals are kept. Our natural resources will last longer if we learn to recyciethem. The world population will not rise so quickly if people use modern methods of birth control. Finally, if we ecate people to think about the problems we shall have a better and cleaner planet in the future.
3.春節
We call the Chinese New Year the Spring Festival. There's a name for each Chinese year. We may call it the year of the sheep, the year of the monkey or the year of the pig, etc. This year is the year of the sheep. Before New Year's Day, people are busy shopping and cleaning their houses. On New Year's Eve, there is a big family dinner. After dinner, all the family stay up until midnight,to welcome the New Year. On the first day of the New Year, people put on new clothes and visit their friends. They say"Happy New Year!" to each other. People usually have a good time ring the festival.

http://..com/question/9750123.html?si=1There" is no better than "Here"

Born in 1758, Horatio nelson, the son of a pastor, was a small, frail1 child who loved sailing. As a young teenager he joined the British Navy and, while journeying to the East Indies, caught a fever that seriously damaged his health. But he never allowed this to hold him back. At age 18, he was appointed a lieutenant2 in the Royal Navy and by the year 1802 was made commander-in-chief.
Two years later, at the battle of Trafalgar, Nelson defeated the combined3 French and Spanish fleets4. This was the greatest naval victory in British history and left British in control of the seas for the rest of the 1800's. Unfortunately, Nelson was mortally injured but lived long enough to know that his fleet had won the battle. His last words were, "Thank God I have done my ty."
Nelson was a man of fearless courage and devotion. He believed in his country, in his cause, and in himself. He once said, "I am of the opinion5 that the boldest measures are the safest." Nelson was a man greatly admired by others who said about him, "His frail body housed6 a great spirit."
One person with a belief is equal to a force of 99 who only have interest.
Beliefs are remarkably powerful in that they are to our lives what a rudder7 is to a ship. That is, they control the direction and destiny of our lives. While we don't always live the life we profess8, we always live the life we believe. Simply put, if I believe I am a failure, I will set myself up to fail. If I believe I am a successful person, I will succeed, and so on.
One very successful woman, a well-known entertainer, didn't have much going for her. She would never win a beauty contest and at age 38 was living on welfare. After reading Claude Briston's The Magic of Believing and beginning to believe in herself, her life took a dramatic turn. One gift she had was the ability to make people laugh. Once she believed this, she didn't allow what she didn't have to stop her using what she did have.
Jimmie Durante was another entertainer who wouldn't have made a fortune with his looks. But he capitalized on9 his weakness and turned it into one of his great strengths -- what he did have -- and put these to good use because he believed he could.

There are four key points to study English: listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Firstly, we should be brave to talk with others in English. By doing this, we can improve our talking and listening skill.
Secondly, we should try to listen to all kinds of English programmes as much as possible. In this way, we can graally improve our pronunciation.
Thirdly, we should often read English books. When we come across a new word. We should guess its meaning through the contest first. Then look it up in the dictionary to have a check. I thin,, it is a good way of reading.
Fourthly, we should practice our writing skills. Whenever we have any idea, we should get the pen and write it down at once. It is very important to avoid writing in Chinese way and using the Chinese grammar.
As long as we listen, speak, read and write more, we are sure to make remarkable progress!

(The Value of Time)

As a popular saying goes, "Time is money. "In fact, time is more precious than money. When money is spent, you can earn it back if you want to. However, when time is gone, it will never come back. As the pace of modern life continues to accelerate, the time at our disposal is quite limited. But there are a lot of things to be done in our lives. We should make full use of our time to fulfil what is useful to us. For instance, as students we should devote most of our time to our academic studies. In this way we can acquire new knowledge and skill necessary for our future carrier.
In my opinion, wasting time means wasting our valuable life. But many of us don't realize this. They think time is inexhaustible. I'm not in favor of such of a view. Hence, my conclusion is that we should never put off what can be today until tomorrow。

As a high school coach, I did all I could to help my boys win their games. I rooted as hard for victory as they did.

A dramatic incident, however, following a game in which I officiated as a referee, changed my perspective on victories and defeats. I was refereeing a league championship basketball game in New Rochelle, New York, between New Rochelle and Yonkers High.

New Rochelle was coached by Dan O'Brien, Yonkers by Les Beck. The gym was crowded to capacity, and the volume of noise made it impossible to hear. The game was well played and closely contested. Yonkers was leading by one point as I glanced at the clock and discovered there were but 30 seconds left to play.

Yonkers, in possession of the ball, passed off — shot — missed. New Rochelle recovered — pushed the ball up court — shot. The ball rolled tantalizingly around the rim and off. The fans shrieked.

New Rochelle, the home team, recovered the ball, and tapped it in for what looked like victory. The tumult was deafening. I glanced at the clock and saw that the game was over. I hadn't heard the final buzzer because of the noise. I checked with the other official, but he could not help me.

Still seeking help in this bedlam, I approached the timekeeper, a young man of 17 or so. He said, "Mr. Covino, the buzzer went off as the ball rolled off the rim, before the final tap-in was made."

I was in the unenviable position of having to tell Coach O'Brien the sad news. "Dan," I said, "time ran out before the final basket was tapped in. Yonkers won the game."

His face clouded over. The young timekeeper came up. He said, "I'm sorry, Dad. The time ran out before the final basket."

Suddenly, like the sun coming out from behind a cloud, Coach O'Brien's face lit up. He said, "That's okay, Joe. You did what you had to do. I'm proud of you."

Turning to me, he said, "Al, I want you to meet my son, Joe."

The two of them then walked off the court together, the coach's arm around his son's shoulder.

Today I had an internship at the cancerology department of my faculty. Of all the patients I ever encountered ring my internships, I were the most affected by patients suffering from cancer and who had almost no hope of returning back to a normal life. This led me to ponder on the question of how our nutrition and lifestyle has changed drastically over the centuries and how cancer can be avoided. Today you have more fatty, sugary foods, animal meats doped with hormones and steroids and cultivations sprayed with insecticides and pesticides. All these contribute to the formation of cancers. So how to decrease the risks of cancer?

1. Limit the consumption of fine sugars

By this, I mean sugars which are powdery or in small cubes which are use to make cakes and other delicacies. So no sugar in your Coffee or tea as from now. Replace white bread with wholewheat breads. Stop drinking sodas. These food procts have a high glycemic index: they contain a lot of sugar which are digested and absorbed very quickly by the human body. Cancerous cells need a lot of glucose to develop rapidly. A diet with lots of sugars can favorize the development of tumors in your body. Moreover, your pancreas, the organ which proces insulin in your body, must increase its turnover of insulin to break down surplus sugar. This increase of insulin, according to the chief of cancerology department, stimulates the growth and diffusion of cancerous cells. It is imperative then to limit the consumption of fine sugars.

2. Avoid hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils

You can find them in some margarines and prepared dishes. They have inflammatory properties and prepare the ground for the formation of cancerous tissues. These are also trans fat procts. Trans fats lowers the amount of HDL or good cholesterol.

3. Opt for fresh farmers foods

Fresh farmers foods have the advantage of having been cultivated the traditional way. The fruits and vegetables are not contaminated by pesticides and insecticides and the meats are not loaded with steroids and hormones. But beware though. Some farmers do resort to orthodox and unhealthy methods to boost their proctions.

4. Green Tea

Green tea is rich in polyphenols and seems to block the formation of tumors by preventing blood vessels of forming everywhere. Green tea also seem to prevent the formation of leukemia, cancers of the prostate, breasts, kidneys, skins and mouth.

5. Soja

Soja contains isoflavines which have the property of recing overstimulation of the body by oestrogens. It is used in some treatments of cancer like breasts cancer.

6. Curcuma

Curcuma have anti-inflammatory properties and thus may prevent proliferation of some tumors, namely in the colon, liver or stomach and breasts.

7. Maintain a correct weight

Maintain your BMI (Body Mass Index) in the healthy normal range of 18.5 to 24,9. Overweight and obesity increase the risks of developing cancer, even more if you have a lot of fatty tissues around your waists. An increase in weight raises the probability of having cancer in your colon and rectum, oesophagus, pancreas, kidneys and breasts even after menopause.

8. Do some regular physical activities

The famous 30 minutes daily walk must no longer remains as idle talks. You must make sure you have a daily time slice to do some jogging, walking or other physical activities. Doing some kind of sports may have some benefits against certain types of cancer such as lung and pancreatic cancers.
