Heterogeneity in societies will be the rule in the 21st century, and failure to recognize and plan for such diversity can lead to serious crime problems.

四級復合式聽力鍵在考場上一定要合理分配時間,一般來說,我們遵循以下步驟。
步驟一:聽前預測
復合式聽寫原則上要念三遍,第一遍是正常語速,要求考生不動筆,了解大意。第二遍語速降慢,考生在此時間里可以填寫答案。第三遍又恢復正常語速,考生可以利用此時間檢查答案。但是實際上我們光靠第二遍的時間來填寫答案,時間是遠遠不夠的。因此我們需要利用其他的時間。這就要求我們在卷子發下來的時候首先就瀏覽文章,猜測大意,判斷每空所填單詞的詞性。
步驟二:聽與記
開始念第一遍的時候就要開始填寫內容,盡可能多地填。注意使用簡寫形式和做筆記。再利用後面兩遍的時間補充所填充的內容。對於後面的三個句子則要記下整個句子的關鍵詞,一般說來,名詞,動詞,形容詞,數詞這幾種詞性是關鍵詞。介詞,副詞,連詞,冠詞則可以省去不計。直到三遍念完之後再將殘缺的句子補充完整。
步驟三:檢查
三遍都完了之後一定不忘檢查。很多同學做完了之後馬上就做閱讀,想從聽力中抽出時間做其他的題。其實這種做法很錯誤,花2分鍾時間檢查一下復合式聽寫可以挽回不少得分。檢查的要點如下:
1. 單詞的拼寫
在填前面7個空的時候存在以下問題。首先是根本就聽不懂,也就是說根本就沒有背過這個單詞。這屬於詞彙問題,考生需要的是增加詞彙量。其他大部分同學聽到這個單詞感覺很熟悉,但是往往要反映很常一段時間才能想出來。換句話說就是對單詞的敏感程度不夠,這類考生對聽力有一定的基礎,需要平時有意識地訓練單詞的發音。還有部分同學聽力聚基礎不錯,一聽到單詞馬上就能反映出是什麼意思,但是往往在拼寫方面存在問題。
第一個問題就是由於記憶偏差或者粗心造成的拼寫錯誤。如truly經常被寫成turely或turly或truely,separate 經常被寫成seperate或saperate等等。有的時候就是這樣一個小小的錯誤都可能造成我們的失分。因此考生在平時可以有意識地多寫寫容易出錯的單詞,增強對單詞的記憶。
2.同音異義詞的干擾
英語裡面有很多同音異意詞,在聽力裡面就需要考生積極分辨。例如考生聽見,腦海里能反映出來的單詞就有:road, rowed, rode等。到底應該填寫哪一個還要考生根據上下文的意思來推斷。這個過程需要一定的反映時間,為了在聽力過程中節約時間,考生在平時就就應多多積累常見的同音異意詞。以下是我們四級過程中常常遇見的一些例如:flew-flu threw- through brake- break site- sight sale-sail flower-flour passed-past weather- whether for- four forth-fourth dying-dyeing
3. 名詞的單復數
在檢查的時候,考生心中應該有個概念,即這道題為什麼要這樣考,目的是是什麼。如果是名詞,可能就是考名詞的單復數。動詞可能考動詞的變形。形容詞可能考拼寫比較難的多音節詞或者是形容詞變副詞的時候是否該去掉末尾的e. 只有揣摩出題人的考點,考生才能有的放矢地去檢查。從今幾年復合式聽寫的出題規律來看,名詞的復數形式考得比較常見。例如98年1月第6個空就填了expedriences,04年6月第三個空與第四空分別填寫prints和instruments. 有時候單從語音上很難分辨是單數還是復數,因為復數詞尾在最後往往要弱讀,但是我們可以根據上下文和語法來判斷單復數。空格前面如果是a,an,那麼一定填單數。空格前若是the,則單復數都可。空格前若是some,several,也是單復數都可。很多同學一看見some,several馬上就在後面加s,卻忽略了名詞還分為可數名詞與不可數名詞。關於名詞的單復數還有一個最原始的問題,就是以o結尾的名詞加復數的問題。就現在我們所學的階段,只有六個以 o結尾的單詞詞尾加es,其他的都加s.他們分別是:Negro, hero, valcano, tomato,potato和echo,用一句話來記就是黑人英雄站在火山上吃西紅柿和土豆,聽見了迴音。
