01 The Definition of “Price” Prices determine how resources are to be used. They are also the means by which procts and services that are in limited supply are rationed among buyers. The price system of the United States is a complex network composed of the prices of all the procts bought and sold in the economy as well as those of a myriad of services, including labor, professional, transportation, and public-utility services. The interrelationships of all these prices make up the “system” of prices. The price of any particular proct or service is linked to a broad, complicated system of prices in which everything seems to depend more or less upon everything else. If one were to ask a group of randomly selected indivials to define “price”, many would reply that price is an amount of money paid by the buyer to the seller of a proct or service or, in other words that price is the money values of a proct or service as agreed upon in a market transaction. This definition is, of course, valid as far as it goes. For a complete understanding of a price in any particular transaction, much more than the amount of money involved must be known. Both the buyer and the seller should be familiar with not only the money amount, but with the amount and quality of the proct or service to be exchanged, the time and place at which the exchange will take place and payment will be made, the form of money to be used, the credit terms and discounts that apply to the transaction, guarantees on the proct or service, delivery terms, return privileges, and other factors. In other words, both buyer and seller should be fully aware of all the factors that comprise the total “package” being exchanged for the asked-for amount of money in order that they may evaluate a given price. 02 The Language of Music A painter hangs his or her finished pictures on a wall, and everyone can see it. A composer writes a work, but no one can hear it until it is performed. Professional singers and players have great responsibilities, for the composer is utterly dependent on them. A student of music needs as long and as arous a training to become a performer as a medical student needs to become a doctor. Most training is concerned with technique, for musicians have to have the muscular proficiency of an athlete or a ballet dancer. Singers practice breathing every day, as their vocal chords would be inadequate without controlled muscular support. String players practice moving the fingers of the left hand up and down, while drawing the bow to and fro with the right arm—two entirely different movements. Singers and instruments have to be able to get every note perfectly in tune. Pianists are spared this particular anxiety, for the notes are already there, waiting for them, and it is the piano tuner’s responsibility to tune the instrument for them. But they have their own difficulties; the hammers that hit the string have to be coaxed not to sound like percussion, and each overlapping tone has to sound clear. This problem of getting clear texture is one that confronts student conctors: they have to learn to know every note of the music and how it should sound, and they have to aim at controlling these sound with fanatical but selfless authority. Technique is of no use unless it is combined with musical knowledge and understanding. Great artists are those who are so thoroughly at home in the language of music that they can enjoy performing works written in any century. 03The Beginning of Drama There are many theories about the beginning of drama in ancient Greece. The on most widely accepted today is based on the assumption that drama evolved from ritual. The argument for this view goes as follows. In the beginning, human beings viewed the natural forces of the world-even the seasonal changes-as unpredictable, and they sought through various means to control these unknown and feared powers. Those measures which appeared to bring the desired results were then retained and repeated until they hardened into fixed rituals. Eventually stories arose which explained or veiled the mysteries of the rites. As time passed some rituals were abandoned, but the stories, later called myths, persisted and provided material for art and drama. Those who believe that drama evolved out of ritual also argue that those rites contained the seed of theater because music, dance, masks, and costumes were almost always used, Furthermore, a suitable site had to be provided for performances and when the entire community did not participate, a clear division was usually made between the "acting area" and the "auditorium." In addition, there were performers, and, since considerable importance was attached to avoiding mistakes in the enactment of rites, religious leaders usually assumed that task. Wearing masks and costumes, they often impersonated other people, animals, or supernatural beings, and mimed the desired effect-success in hunt or battle, the coming rain, the revival of the Sun-as an actor might. Eventually such dramatic representations were separated from religious activities. Another theory traces the theater's origin from the human interest in storytelling. According to this vies tales (about the hunt, war, or other feats) are graally elaborated, at first through the use of impersonation, action, and dialogue by a narrator and then through the assumption of each of the roles by a different person. A closely related theory traces theater to those dances that are primarily rhythmical and gymnastic or that are imitations of animal movements and sounds.

THE 4 WIVES
There was a rich merchant who had 4 wives. He loved the 4th wife the most and adorned her with rich robes and treated her to delicacies. He took great care of her and gave her nothing but the best.
He also loved the 3rd wife very much. He's very proud of her and always wanted to show off her to his friends. However, the merchant is always in great fear that she might run away with some other men.
He too, loved his 2nd wife. She is a very considerate person, always patient and in fact is the merchant's confidante. Whenever the merchant faced some problems, he always turned to his 2nd wife and she would always help him out and tide him through difficult times.
Now, the merchant's 1st wife is a very loyal partner and has made great contributions in maintaining his wealth and business as well as taking care of the household. However, the merchant did not love the first wife and although she loved him deeply, he hardly took notice of her.
One day, the merchant fell ill. Before long, he knew that he was going to die soon. He thought of his luxurious life and told himself, "Now I have 4 wives with me. But when I die, I'll be alone. How lonely I'll be!"
Thus, he asked the 4th wife, "I loved you most, endowed you with the finest clothing and showered great care over you. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?" "No way!" replied the 4th wife and she walked away without another word.
The answer cut like a sharp knife right into the merchant's heart. The sad merchant then asked the 3rd wife, "I have loved you so much for all my life. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?" "No!" replied the 3rd wife. "Life is so good over here! I'm going to remarry when you die!" The merchant's heart sank and turned cold.
He then asked the 2nd wife, "I always turned to you for help and you've always helped me out. Now I need your help again. When I die, will you follow me and keep me company?" "I'm sorry, I can't help you out this time!" replied the 2nd wife. "At the very most, I can only send you to your grave." The answer came like a bolt of thunder and the merchant was devastated.
Then a voice called out : "I'll leave with you. I'll follow you no matter where you go." The merchant looked up and there was his first wife. She was so skinny, almost like she suffered from malnutrition. Greatly grieved, the merchant said, "I should have taken much better care of you while I could have !"
Actually, we all have 4 wives in our lives
a. The 4th wife is our body. No matter how much time and effort we lavish in making it look good, it'll leave us when we die.
b. Our 3rd wife ? Our possessions, status and wealth. When we die, they all go to others.
c. The 2nd wife is our family and friends. No matter how close they had been there for us when we're alive, the furthest they can stay by us is up to the grave.
d. The 1st wife is in fact our soul, often neglected in our pursuit of material, wealth and sensual pleasure.

Olympic Mental or Physical
Hello, ladies and gentlemen:
Nearly four years has gone by since we successfully bid for the 2008 Olympic Games. Have you ever think about this questions, Olympic mental or physical? As the Olympic games has become a part of my life, I began to accumulate thoughts and feeling of it. And finally I discovered that a kind of sports spirit has taken root in the bottom of my heart..
In an advertisement, it says: even though our athletes are able to run faster than a gust of wind, even though our gymnasts can be more sensitive than cats, even though the weight-lifting players can be stronger than elephants, we still cannot prove that we are great, unless we understand the strongest part of human body is mind. These words teach us the true essence of the Olympic Games. It is not only a competition for sportsmen to confirm who is stronger physically or more skillful, but it is a stage for us to spread love, peace and a positive mental attitude. And the Olympic flame seems to be a magic spark that lights up the fire of our power inside.
Both physical and mental training are essential in reaching the Olympic motto: swifter, higher, and stronger. And I hope more and more athletes will get aware of it, because what we get inside can be stronger than everything.

9. 求一篇200到300词的英语作文,
today our class teacher gave us a science investigation which i really hated doing! Luckily, we got to do it in groups, therefore i wouldn't need to do it on my own. I was paired up with my friend and 2 other boys. At the start we had to plan ideas of what we need to investigate on. I found it really hard because everyone started to talk about other things that wasn't related to the project. I was really upset so i told the teacher. He said that we needed to work more as a team. In the end we started to cooperate more and got a really good research topic. It wasn't so bad after all! in fact, i think i took it way too seriously and started to open up as well. It was kind of my fault after all!
我觉得第5最好写其实,,应为那件事就发生在我身上! 呵~ XD

The Sight Seeing That Left A Deep Impression In My Mind(Number of words:312 )
During the last summer vacation, I, together with my parents, paid a visit to Hangzhou, the most beautiful city inChina. Of the places I visited there, theWesternLakeand the Leifeng Pagoda which are closely related to the Chinese legend “The Tale of the White Snake” interested me most.
TheWesternLakecovers an area of about 300 square km. On the bank of the lake, there are green meadows, tall trees with green leaves and beautiful flowers with different colors. The water of the lake is clear, almost without any pollution. People can see golden fish swimming freely in the lake. On the water surface, passengers are cruising either in yachts, or boats with different shapes. On one side of the bank we saw Duan Qiao, the so calledBrokenBridgewhere according to the Chinese legend, the ancient Chinese lovers the White Snake and Xu-xian met and were engaged.
The Leifeng Pagoda is located by the side of theWesternLakeand was built about 1000 years ago on a terrace of about 30 meters high. The pagoda itself is about 60 meters tall and is in the shape of octagon. It has 8 flying eaves, each is covered with red glazed tiles which are shining in the sun. Inside the pagoda, the pillars and beams are all marvelously gilded and the inner walls are painted with beautiful pictures. All these pictures are telling the story that these two places are closely related to the story of the White Snake.
I was amazed by these two places of beautiful scenery and ancient relics. Our visit toHangzhouhas left a deep impression in my mind. If I have time in the future, I’ll go there to visit the places again.
