材料一:普氏野马,又称蒙古野马,原产于我国新疆准噶尔盆地的荒漠地带,因此又称准噶尔野马。普氏野马素有“马中活化石”之称。
野马在我国历史上有过不少记载。据载,周穆王西游东归时,西五母十分热情,临行惜别,奉送不少礼品其中有“野马、野牛四十”另据文献载,成吉思汗的军师耶律楚材军旅诗里也有对野马的描绘“千群野马杂山羊,壮士弯弓殒奇兽”。新疆、贺兰山、阴山、甘肃,乌兰察布等地的岩画中,见有大量野马的足印。郦道元在《水经注》里就多处提岩画里的马及野马的形象。
1974、1981、1982年,中国科学院,新疆大学等单位先后组织考察队,深入到准噶尔荒漠、乌伦古河、克拉麦里山、北塔山等野马产地考察,寻找最后的野马,后又进行过航空调查,但无果而终。
材料二:中国野马被偷猎至欧洲各国圈养的,不断繁殖后代。但圈养普氏野马比野生普氏野马腿变粗2—3公分,体重平均增加50—70公斤,奔跑速度下降一半,性情变得温顺起来,没有了百年前野生普氏野马的那种警觉、躁动和野性的强健。甚至在2000年春天,新疆野马繁殖中心引进的一匹最好的盛年母马“准葛尔1号”因肥胖死于难产。
国际野马组织提出“野马还乡保种计划”,并积极实行。1986年我国引进第一批野马共18匹。2001年8月28日新疆野马繁殖研究中心进行了第一次实验性放野。由“准葛尔11号”头马带领,放出27匹到卡拉麦里山自然保护区的野外荒漠。放野过程中死掉3匹,五个多月后收回剩下的24匹。这是一次积极的尝试。相信在国内外科学界的共同努力下,普氏野马保种、扩群和恢复原始野生种性等工作将大有希望。
