Should the University Campus Be Open to Tourists?
In recent years, tourists have frequently been seen walking around and taking photos on university campuses,especially in some famous univerities,such as Peking University and Tsinghua Unibersity . This so-called'Academic Tourism‘ isbecoming increasingly popular and is particularly attractive to high school students and their eager parents, who believe that in doing so ,their children will be inspired to study harder .
There has been much heated discussion in the media on whther or not the universities should be open to tourists.Some hold that by opening the unibersity campuses for touring,'Academic Tourism' will creat a closer relationship between the universities and the public ,resulting in a signigicant increase in the popularity of the university itself.But others, by contrast. Insist that crowds of tourists will inevitably disturb the students.
In my opinion, the universities should welcome tourists to their campuses. This’Academic Tourism' will serve teh good of society, as well as the university. In a word,it is time we got rid of the dated idea of reserving university campuses for only ecation.
