Should tourists take photos with animals?
Koalas in wildlife parks can『t fall asleep because tourists keep disturbing them. The movement is thinking to make the tourists』 behaviour illegal to protect the animals.
When people are visiting wildlife parks, they like to take photographs with animals. Reasons for this are varied. Some people may think taking photos with animals are funny in contrast with taking photos with other persons. Others may think that it will be an interesting experience to take photos with animals ring their visit.
If I were an animal in the wildlife park, I would feel annoyed when people keep photographing with me. My life would be greatly influenced and I wouldn『t feel happy at all! I think I should have some private space and time to relax myself.
However, I don『t agree if it is announced illegal to take photos with animals. Tourists pay for tickets to visit the wildlife park and it will be a pity for them if they can』t have a photo with an animal. Perhaps wildlife parks can set some special time, ring which tourists can take photos with animals. It can both satisfy tourists and protect the animals.

Dear editor,
I』m writing to tell you about the discussion we have had about whether an entrance fee should be charged for parks. 60% of us schoolmates think that an entrance fee do not meet people』s expectations, for a park is considered to be a place where the public can have a good time when they are not busy either at home or at work. If an entrance fee must be paid by the visitors for a park, it will be necessary to build a gate and surrounding walls. In the end a city will take on a bad look. 40% of us schoolmates think that an entrance fee can be accepted, but it must not be too expensive. The money from ticket selling can be used for paying the gardeners in the park and buying some other kinds of flowers and trees.
With regard to myself, I think an entrance fee is useful, for it can be used to protect a park. Do we share the same opinion, dear editor?
Yours truly,
Li Hua
Dear editor,
I』m writing to tell you about the discussion we have had about whether an entrance fee should be charged for parks. Sixty students out of one hundred think that an entrance fee should not be bought before one enters a park, for it is a place for the public to go to when they are free. If a ticket must be bought, a gate and walls have to be built for a park, which will make a city look ugly. Forty students out of one hundred think that an entrance fee should be bought before one enters a park, but that the price of the ticket should be reasonable. Money that is got from ticket selling can be used to pay the gardening workers and buy different kinds of flowers and trees. As for myself, I really think parks are good places to go to at weekends and on holidays. At the same time, we, as visitors, should pay the entrance fee when we enter a park. After all, it takes a lot of money to maintain a park in good working order. Do you agree with me, dear editor?
Yours truly,
Li Hua
Dear editor,
I』m writing to tell you about the discussion we have had about whether an entrance fee should be charged for parks. Sixty percent of my schoolmates are for the idea that an entrance fee should not be forced on the public. They believe parks are the place where the public enjoy themselves at their leisure. They think that a gate and wails are to be built if an entrance fee is to be charged. The city will not look so beautiful as it should have. Forty percent of my schoolmates are for the idea that an entrance fee is OK, but it shouldn』t be out of control. Entrance fee can be used to pay the gardeners and buy new types of flowers and trees. For myself, I』d like to say that if we all work hard to build our city into a flower garden, who cares about the entrance fee for parks?
Yours truly,
Li Hua
Dear editor, I』m writing to tell you about the discussion we have had about whether an entrance fee should be charged for parks. Those against charging entrance fee for parks take up 60%. They are of one mind that parks are a place for the public』s enjoyment. If tickets are demanded on the visitors of a park, a gate has to be set up and so have the walls on the four sides. If so, city will not look as beautiful as it would. Otherwise, those in favour of charging entrance fee for parks take up 40%. They all think that ticket price should be controlled properly, and that entrance fee can be used to pay the gardeners and buy new sorts of flowers and trees. The truth lies in the hands of the majority. Does my argument stand to reason, dear editor?
Yours truly, Li Hua
Dear editor,
I』m writing to tell you about the discussion we have had about whether an entrance fee should be charged for parks. Of all us who have joined in the discussion, 60% share the point of view that an entrance fee should not be charged while 40% share the opposite view. Those who don』t agree with the idea think that a park is a place where the public can spend their spare time for pleasure. Those in support of the idea think that entrance fee for parks can』t be beyond control. Those against the idea think that a city』s appearance will be damaged because a gate and wails will be built if an entrance fee is to be collected. Those who agree with the idea think entrance fee can be used to pay the gardeners and buy new kinds of flowers and trees. I think it does more good than harm to charge an entrance fee for parks. Am I right, editor?
Yours truly,
Li Hua
How to choose books your book discussion group will enjoy
There are many different ways to choose books for your book club/reading group, and there is no reason to stick with the same formula all the time. Here are a few suggestions:
Choose a theme - e.g. a particular culture, country, author, time period, genre or subject. Or avoid getting stuck in a theme by deliberately choosing books that are different from each other! BookBrowse's reading guides are sorted by title, author and a wide range of themes.
Take it in turns to choose.
Agree who will short list the books for the next meeting and have them bring along 2-3 recommendations which the members vote on.
Browse BookBrowse!
A great way to find exceptional books, save time at your meetings and be sure that everyone knows a bit about the books they're going to be voting on, is for one person to visit BookBrowse and select a shortlist of books that look to be of particular interest. Then email the URLs (page addresses) to the other members, who can then browse the extensive excerpts, multiple reviews etc. of each book and come to the meeting with an opinion on the shortlisted books.
If you have trouble agreeing, why not read all of them (spread out over a few months of course)?
If you find yourself disappointed that the group don't want to read a book that you think looks excellent, keep in mind that there is absolutely nothing stopping you reading it yourself - and if it proves to be as good as you think, you can always recommend it to the group at a later time!
Look for recommendations at your library or bookstore. Most libraries have lists of recommended titles and 'librarian picks', and many libaries will be happy to work with you and your group to find book choices that you're likely to enjoy; or check out lists of awards such as The Pulitzer Prize, Booker Prize and National Book Awards.
It's unlikely that everybody will agree on every book choice every time. Make it clear when the group is set up, and when new members join, that a majority vote will carry - encourage members to treat new genres or authors with an open mind - after all most people join a book club to expand their reading experience.
Be mindful of genre burnout - don't stay with the same list/theme for too long, or take a break every now and then with a book that breaks the mold.
Select your books at least two to three meetings ahead of time, so that you have plenty of time to read them (and potentially to borrow from the library or share copies amongst the group). Some groups plan their entire year's reading at one meeting, others prefer to stay just a few books ahead.
However, be cautious of committing to books too far ahead as the mood and interests of the group might change over time and you could find yourselves tied into a book or genre that is no longer of interest to the group.
At least for the first few meetings, choose reasonably short books (leave War and Peace for a later meeting!) with a ready prepared reading guide. Avoid books that are bound to become controversial (e.g. religion and politics) until the group members have had time to get to know each other.
From the Publisher
All Kinds of Minds: This book was written to help children in the elementary grades understand how they learn, how weaknesses make learning difficult, and how their strengths can be used to improve their learning skills. As the title indicates, minds vary - none is perfect -and everyone needs to appreciate all kinds of minds.
All Kinds of Minds is a mainly fictitious account of 5 appealing and realistic children. Each of them has 1 or more learning disorders. Young readers will easily identify with the experiences of the characters as they appear in a variety of situations: humorous, serious, suspenseful, and sometimes sad.
During the first 7 fictitious chapters, each of the main characters learn about getting help from others, helping themselves, and building on their strengths. The final chapter, which is nonfiction, reviews important concepts and facts that appear in the preceding chapters. It also offers young readers suggestions for overcoming the effects of learning disorders. Some children will be able to read All Kinds of Minds on their own; others may require some help from an alt. Still others may need an alt to read the book to them as they look on.
給你打個比方吧,很多想到「許多」就用many,但是你別忘了many a ;handsome;massive,innumerable,a multitude of ;很多人想到「專家」就寫expert,但很少人會想到specialist,很多人在想到「擅長」這詞,就寫be good at ,卻不知還有更高級的表達法:be expert at 或者excel in …
1.The regular physical exercise contributes to our health 改成The regular physical exercise contributes tremendously to our health!
2.In my opinion, the driver』s carelessness should be responsible for this road accident改成
3For my part, the driver『s negligence should be dominantly responsible for this unexpectedly horrible accident
4The majority of students believe that the part-time job will provide them with more oppportunities to develop their interpersonal skills改成The majority of students firmly believe that the part-time job will undoubtedly provide them with golden opportunities to develop their interpersonal skills tremendously!
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
