第一句話有些問題，用surprise有些不妥，和後文沒有什麼關系。你可以寫成「 was very happy yesterday」或者「yesterday was a fine day」.「There were lots and lots of people there」這句話有問題應改為There were lots of people there.

而且這句話語法有問題，應該改為People sang danced and played chess.「be+doing」是現在進行時不適合用在這里，因為整篇文章用的都是過去時，文章時態要統一
「the food was Chinese food」這個我也不確定對不對，但覺得怪怪的，可以換一種方式來講「We ate Chinese food.」
「they were very delicious」這句話不對，因為Cinese food是不可數名詞，一般看作單數所以應改成「It was very delicious.」
"Then we saw Chinese dancing in there."這句也有問題。「there"是副詞，副詞前不加定冠詞「the」
