1.要認真審題。寫作之前，必須明確把握寫作的題目和要求，明確文章體裁，確定人稱、時態和語態，這樣才能避免文不對題，保證表達准確。由於一些題目對文章提出了一些特殊的要求，考生最好將這些要求分類標注在草稿紙上，避免出現未按要求寫作的情況發生。
2.要變難為易。在英語寫作中，一些題目很有難度，這就要求學生要學會隨機應變，變難為易。比如，一些句子可以用一句話來表述，但是在寫作中可能出現了語法不好落實的情況，所以我們就可以將長句分成短句進行表述。對於一些單詞無法確定的問題，我們也可拐彎抹角地表達出來。總的要求是：力爭用自己最熟悉的句式、單詞來表達自己要表述的意思，避免出錯。
3.要注重修改。文章寫成後，決不能匆忙交稿，必須從頭至尾進行細致的檢查。一是要檢查文章是否達到了題目的要求；二是要檢查上下文是否連貫、句子銜接是否自然流暢；三是要時態、語態、語氣運用是否合適；四是要檢查單詞書寫是否正確，是否有大小寫、拼寫、標點錯誤等。在寫作中，由於作文處於最後的位置，一些學生往往匆忙寫完，急忙交卷，出現的問題也就不能被及時發現。
總之，寫作能力的提高是一個循序漸進的過程，不可能一蹴而就。作為英語教師，必須通過增加積累、強化訓練、傳授技巧等多種方式，才能達到提高學生寫作能力的目的。
