3.短文改錯試題的難度保持平穩，體裁以記敘文為主，記敘文較說明文和議論文更易理解；句子結構以簡單句為主過渡到以復合句和並列句為主。句子的長度是控制難度的一個重要因素。句子越長難度越高。從近幾年考試題來看，短文改錯的句子平均長度趨於平穩，但幾乎每篇都有一個長達20多個詞的句子。這就需要考生在這個句子中判斷出二到三個地方有錯或無錯，增加了試題的難度。
-考查要點
短文改錯的目的是測試考生發現、判斷、糾正一些詞法、句法以及語篇中的行文邏輯等方面錯誤的能力。它既能考查考生的詞彙和語法方面的能力，也能考查考生的閱讀理解能力。其考查要點的主要方面有：
1.詞法的測試
詞法的測試包括：1)定冠詞和不定冠詞的用法；2)名詞的單復數和名詞所有格；3)動詞的時態、語態、語氣、情態動詞和非謂語動詞等；4)人稱代詞的格、物主代詞、指示代詞、連接代詞、不定代詞等的用法；5)介詞的搭配；6)並列連詞、從屬連詞的用法；7)形容詞、副詞的區別以及比較級和最高級的用法；8)固定搭配和習慣用法。
2.句法的測試
句法的測試包括：1)主謂語在數上的一致；2)名詞性從句；3)定語從句；4)強調句型；5)句子結構的連貫性、完整性、對等性及邏輯性。
3.語篇的測試

-解題技巧
1.通讀全文，了解短文的中心意思，把握全篇的時態、人稱及行文邏輯。尤其是行文邏輯方面的錯誤，有時孤立地讀一個單句時是沒有錯誤的(或是不易看出錯誤)。但是，如果聯繫上下文，就會發現該句的問題所在。在通讀全文的同時把一些比較容易的或是明顯的錯誤先改好，這樣也為再進行分行、分句改錯時，起到了降低難度的作用。
2.分句閱讀，逐行找錯。做完上述工作後，就要進入逐行改錯的階段。這時就要對文中的詞法、句法和語篇(詳見考查要點)角度著重分析和特別注意。
3.最後，把改好後的短文再閱讀一遍，檢驗答案是否正確，感覺是否還有不妥之處，最終形成定稿。
-注意問題
1.通常考生認為短文改錯中正確的一行一般在短文中間或是靠後的位置，但這是沒有規律的，很有可能第一行就是正確的。
2.短文改錯時改「錯」，而不是把文中的表達法改成另外的表達形式。很多考生對這個概念比較模糊。把原文中並沒有錯的形式改成了自己認可的另外一種形式，雖然改後的表達法也是對的，但這樣做偏離了這類題型的答題要求，因而也不能得分。
3.還有一點也是非常值得考生們注意的，就是：在短文改錯時，不能改變短文中句子本身的意義。同樣，如果需要改變句子的結構或連詞等方面的錯誤時，也一定要圍繞文章的中心意思來改錯。
-復習建議
除了多做改錯專項練習外，也要做與短文改錯題型相關的其他練習。比如：
1.在平時寫作過程中就要十分注意自己容易犯的語法錯誤。善於總結一些錯誤類型並加以強化練習，最終達到正確地使用英語的目的。
