13. W: Can you help me with the cooking, Sam?
M: Sorry, Jenny. I don‟t really like the smell in the kitchen. Let me help set the table.  Q: What will the man probably do?

Q: Why does the man look nervous?
C. Listen to the passage and tell whether the following statements are true or false (判斷下列句子是否符合你聽到的內容, 符合的用「T」表示,不符合的用「F」表示): (共6分)
London used to be 「foggy」 for the same reason that cities like Beijing or Chongqing are 「foggy」 today. The 「fog」 was a mixture of smoke and fog. In other words, it was caused by air pollution. In London, some of this pollution comes from factories, but a lot of it came from the coal that people burnt in their houses to keep warm ring the winter. By the 1950s, London‟s smog problem had become so bad that the government decided to do something to clean up the air. A new law was made, so no one was allowed to burn coal in any British city. Within a few years, the air became much cleaner.
Many Chinese cities nowadays face the same sort of problem with air pollution that London faced forty or fifty years ago. However, this problem is more difficult for Chinese cities to solve. One reason is that more of the pollution comes from big factories, rather than from coal burnt in people‟s houses. If these factories were suddenly closed, this would harm the economy and lots of people would lose their jobs. Another reason is that changing from coal to cleaner fuels, like gas, is quite expensive. However, the air in many Chinese cities is already becoming cleaner, as the government and ordinary people pay more and more attention to recing pollution. As a result, there will be less fog in China than there used to be.
D. Listen to the passage and complete the following sentences (聽短文,完成下列內容。
每空格限填一詞): (共10分)
I love charity shops and so do lots of other people in Britain. The charity shop sells everything from clothes to furniture, all at very low prices. You can get things you won‟t find in the shops any more.
The first charity shop was opened in 1947. Now there are over seven thousand charity shops in the UK. My favorite charity shop in my hometown is the Red Cross shop, where I always find children‟s books, all 10 or 20 pence each.
Most of the people working in the charity shops are volunteers, although there is often a manager who gets paid. Over 90% of the things given to the charity shops are from the public. Every morning you see bags of unwanted items outside the front of shops, although they don‟t encourage this, rather ask people to bring things in when the shop is open.
Charity shops raise more than £110 million a year, doing medical research, supporting sick and poor children, homeless and disabled people, and so on. What better place to spend your money? You get something special for a very good price and a good moral sense. The money is going to a good cause and not into the pockets of money-making companies, and you are not damaging the planet, but finding a new home for your unwanted things
