第三类使役动词的使用规则
我们都知道let，make，get，have是常见的使役动词，除此以外，还有cause（使得），convince（使确信，使信服），render（使得，使变为）等等，应与前面几个使役动词属一类，这些使役动词的特点是：动词本身是“使”的意思，后面接宾语补足语,表示“使……做……”，“使……怎么样”的意思。
Illness has rendered him rather weak．疾病使他变得相当虚弱。
还有一类使役动词，如：seat，locate，engage，accustom，amuse，compli-cate，surprise，etc。此类动词本身就含有“使……做……”，“使……怎么样”的意思，不必再加宾语补足语。
He amused the children with a story．他讲故事使孩子们高兴。
She complicated the matter with needless addition．
他节外生枝使问题复杂了。
还有一类动词（我们不妨称之为“第三类使役动词”），是由名词或形容词及少数动词加前、后缀构成的。常见的有：
一、前缀
1．be-+n．/a．如：
becloud（使混乱），besot（使沉醉），becalm（使平静），bedazzle（使眼花），befuddle（使烂碎），belittle（使缩小），bepretty（使漂亮），bedim（使模糊）等等。
This kind of medicine has becalmed the patient．这种药已使患者安静了下来。
2．de-+n．如：
deface（使外表受伤），deplane（使下飞机），depress（使消沉），denature（使变性），delight（使高兴），dehydrate（使脱水）等等。
Your visit last week delighted him．你上一周的来访使他很高兴。
3．dis- + n．/vi．如：
disfigure（使外形受损），dishonour（使人丢面子），disillusion（使幻想破灭），dispart（使分裂），displease（使不愉快），dishearten（使失去信心），dis-integrate（使分解）等等。
Don't disillusion her by telling her the bad news．不要告诉她那个坏消息让她失望。
4．en-+n．/a．（b，m，p在前为em）如：
endanger（使遇到危险），emplane（使乘飞机），embattle（使严阵以待），enrage（使激怒），embrave（使勇敢），embitter（使痛苦），enlarge（使变大），entangle（使纠缠），enable（使能够），enrich（使富有），。empower（使能够），enslave（使做奴隶）等等。
Science empowers man to control natural forces more effectively．
科学使人类能更有效地控制自然。
5．in-+n．（在p前加im）如：
inflame（使燃烧），impassion（使充满热情），impaste（使成糊状），infuse（使充满）等等。
The old professor made a speech that inflamed popular feeling．
老教授作了激情的讲演。
6．re-+n．/a．/v．如：
remind（使记起，使想），remove（使离去），rejoice（使欣喜，使高兴），refine（使精练，使优美，使文雅），reposit 使复位，使返回）等等。
That story reminded me of an experience I had long ago．那个故事使我想起了很久以前的一次经历。
二、后缀
1．n．/a．+-ate如：
activate（使活动），oxygenate（使氧化），validate（使合法，使生效），in-validate（使无效，使失效，使作废）等等。
These push buttons activated the elevator．这些按钮使电梯运行。
2．n．/a．+-en如：
strengthen（使变强），lengthen（使延长），deafen（使聋），darken（使变暗），harden（使变硬），sadden（使悲伤），worsen（使更糟），whiten（使变白），blacken（使变黑），lessen（使小），等等。
The commandos blackend their faces with charcoal．游击队员们用炭将脸涂黑。
3．n．/a．+-fy/efy/ify如：
liquefy（使液化），urify（使纯净），simplify（使简化），solidify（使巩固），stupefy（使昏迷），vivify（使活跃），等等。
We have to take some measures to purify the air in this area．
我们得采取措施净化这个地区的空气。
4．n．/a．+-ize如：
industrialize（使工业化），capitalize（使成资本），mobilize（使流通），popularize（使普及），generalize（使一般化），visualize（使具体化），realize（使成现实），specialize（使专门化），standardize（使标准化），等等。
I can't visualize the coat as you describe it．我做不出你要的衣服样式。
