不带比较分句的more…than / more than结构

(1) Then he spoke again, almost more to himself than to me…. (Passage A, Unit 4, Preband 2)
(2) And I learned that people all over the world are more the same than they are different. (Passage A, Unit 3, Preband 2)

上面例(1)中的more to himself than to me意为“与其说是对我说,不如说是对他自己说”,例(2)中的more the same than they are different意为“共同点大于不同点”。

(1) He is more a businessman than a professor.
I was more angry than worried when they didn’t come back.
She was more moved than pleased when she got his gift.
Steven is more smart than hard-working.
Mr. Smith is more an actor than a teacher.
Jeff was more a master than a servant.
(2) He did it more for himself than for anybody else.
I teach more for fun than for a living.
She read the text more carefully than slowly.
I walked more hurriedly than quickly.

Steven is more smart than hard-working.
Steven is smarter than hard-working.

(1) I like more than music.
Shakespeare has written more than Hamlet.

(2) We more than waited from morning till night.
