Language Point 1

pound: v. hit sth. hard many times 连续重击 
He pounded on the table. 他使劲拍桌子。 
I heard someone pounding at the door. 我听到有人砰砰敲门。

1) the unit of money in Britain 英镑 (英国货币单位) 
I bought a car for five hundred pounds. 我花500英镑买了一辆小汽车。

iron: n. 
1) [U] 铁 
The gates are made of iron. 这些门都是铁制的。 
Strike (敲打) while the iron is hot. 趁热打铁。

rock: n. [C] a large piece of stone on the ground, in mountains, or in the sea 岩石;礁石 
The ship hit the rocks and began to sink.  那只船触礁后开始下沉。

Our boat was rocked by the waves. 我们的船随波浪颠簸。 
He rocked the baby until she went to sleep. 他轻摇孩子,直到她睡着。

treatment: n. 
1) [C; U] a way to make a sick person better 治疗;疗法
