Unit 9 A new century

    What an exciting time to be alive! A new century lies before us like an artist’s sketch book with hardly a mark in it. What will we do with these blank pages? What will our footprints show 100 years from now? How will we handle our unique opportunity to make our world a better place? Will we also fill the pages of this century with blood and tears and horrible wars, destroying our enemies or ourselves with guns and drugs or germs or worse? Or will we choose to unite in a common cause to save this earth home we share and rid it of all its ills? Will we choose to fill our days with acts which are beautiful, true, honest, just, pure, good and worthy of honour? For, how we image this new century is most certainly a choice. We will create our future based on what we do today. “Look well therefore to this day,” as the famous Sanskrit poem advises.
