    One disease has united our 21st century world in a common cause for the first time in history. Since 1981, AIDS has spread to the whole world, killing 22 million people in its path and leaving 13 million children without parents. By 2001, 36 million people had the virus that causes AIDS and 15,000 more were catching it each day. The virus cannot be seen; it spreads with frightening speed; no known cure exists; it is an enemy that knows no national limits. Learn in this unit what you can do to protect yourself, your family, your friends and neighbours. Every person can make a difference.
