Imagine a world in which almost anyone had access to a huge computer and could use it as easily as he uses the phone today. Experts are suddenly redundant as far as ordinary people are concerned. That is the sort of world the fifth-generation computer will bring. The fifth-generation computer has even more dramatic implications for professionals such as doctors, lawyers, accountants and scientists. All these people are needed because of the knowledge they gained at school and university and the experience they have picked up since. All that information should be available through a fifth-generation computer.
