一、 考试的目的和性质
英语写作课是英语专业基础课,其教学目的是培养学生的写作能力,包括遣词造句,逻辑思维,语法应用,观点表达等方面的能力,为进一步提高写作能力打下良好的基础。因此,基础英语写作课的考试目的在于检测教师的教学效果及学生写作能力的高低,为今后写作课的教材选用、课程设计和教学重点提供参考资料。
二、 考试的内容和范围
第一单元 Handbook of Sentence Skills 8学时
考核知识点:学会多种多样的句子类型,句式变换的技巧,学习改正句子中的五种常见错误,了解书写句式的技巧。
考核要求:改正句子中的常见错误,变换句式改写句子,写出一句话的多种表达方式。
第二单元 The Writing Process 4学时
考核知识点:学习写作过程的五个基本步骤,了解描写人物的要点和词汇,提高用词技巧。
考核要求:能够按照五个基本步骤,利用恰当的词汇,写出一篇描写人物的短文。
第三单元 Narration 6学时
考核知识点:学习记叙文基本的写作技巧,提高单词和句式应用技巧,了解文章的统一性、连贯性,过渡词的使用,如何简化句式,通过分组讨论提高协作能力。
考核要求:可以找出并写出主题句、与文章无关的句子,熟练地使用相关的过渡词,掌握记叙文的写作技巧,并能够写出一篇记叙文。
第四单元 Description 8学时
考核知识点:了解如何写描述性文章,利用感官、形容词、修辞手法提高描写人物、地点、事件的技巧,利用图片帮助学习描写,互相修改提高写作质量。
考核要求:能够学会利用五种感官、形容词、修辞手法,写出一篇描写某一事件的作文。
第五单元 Comparison and Contrast 8学时
考核知识点:了解对比和比较的区别,能够找出两种事物的相同点和异同点,学会建立比较对比的目的,学会subject by subject 和block by block 两种比较方法,怎样组织文章,学会怎样书写开头、发展、结尾,并合理地使用过渡词。
考核要求:能够合理地组织对比比较的提纲,并写出一篇对比或比较的作文。
第六单元 Process Analysis 8学时
考核知识点:学会过程分析和描写,学会用词和句式的技巧,提高句子表达能力,在分组讨论中提高配合能力。
考核要求:能够利用相关的词和句式,对某一过程进行分析,写出一篇作文。
第七单元 Definition 8学时
考核知识点:了解下定义的目的,构建一个定义的方法,学习相关下定义的词汇,发展文章的具体方法。
考核要求:能够对某一事物或名词给出合理的定义,并发展成为一篇作文。
第八单元 Classification 4学时
考核知识点:了解分类的不同目的,学习有关分类的词汇,学习发展文章的具体方法。
考核要求:根据分类的不同目的,把某一事物分成不同的类别,并发展成为一篇作文。
第九单元 Cause and Effect 8学时
考核知识点:了解因果关系分析法,学习一因多果、一果多因、多因多果的写作过程,了解因果关系的本质,掌握相关过渡词的使用、表达方式和基本规律。
考核要求:利用因果关系分析法,对某事物的形成和发展进行分析,写出一篇因果关系作文。
第十单元 Notes and Precis 8学时
考核知识点:学习实用写作,学会找出文章的重点、作笔记、写出提纲、摘要;学习写各种各样的便条,包括邀请便条、感谢便条、祝贺便条、留言便条、慰问便条、约会便条、请求便条、道歉便条等。
考核要求:能够找出文章的重点、写出提纲、摘要,并且熟练地写出一个便条。
三、 考试的方法和形式
试题比例:句子改错、挑选主题句、段落重组30%;写作70%.。
题型比例:主观性试题占80%,为简答题、作文题。
客观性试题占20%,为判断题、单选题。
难度等级:分为简单、中等难度、较难或难三个等级,大致比例为60:30:10。

考试形式:平时成绩占30%(互相批改10%,作文作业20%),阶段考试成绩占20%,期末闭卷考试成绩占50%。
四、 样题:
I. Rewrite the following sentences according to the requirements (10 points )

III. Choose the topic sentences of the following paragraphs (4 points)
1. Shakespeare's birthplace, the little town of Stratford-upon-Avon had made a thriving business out of its most famous citizen for a long time. It is a popular place for tourists from all over the world, even though many of them would have the greatest of difficulty in understanding Shakespeare's Elizabethen English. However, he has such a fine reputation that it is well worth the journey just to be able to look at the swans that swim on his river and them see his plays at the Royal Shakespeare Theater.
IV. Rearrange the order of the sentences into a paragraph (6 points)
1. Travesty is the monologue of a man who intends to crash the car in which he, his daughter, and an existentialist poet (the lover of both his wife and daughter) are traveling.
2. Henri is apparently nonplussed, since Papa reproaches him for his failure to appreciate the beauty of the thing: "Tonight of all nights why can't you give me one moment of genuine response?
3. Without it, as I have said, our expedition is as wasteful as everything else".
4. Papa, the driver, denies being jealous or having any murderous motive; instead, he tells Henri (the poet) that his plan is to create an "accident" so inexplicable that their deaths will have to be understood as the deliberate execution of an abstract design.
5. But, as the reader well understands, the detachment from self-interest which such a response would require is too much to expect, even from an existentialist.
6. The response Papa wants from Henri is specifically an aesthetic one, and he sees it as a mark of Henri's artistic insincerity that he is not able to provide it.
V. Write an article about 200 words (70 points)
