This unit contains three essays. The first essay exposes a long-lost history of the Amazon Basin and discusses humans' expeditions in the past centuries and archeological findings in modern times. The second essay deals with a beautiful inland bird paradise and arguments over the restoration of the native habitat. The last essay is about the uniqueness of the Great Bear Rainforest and what environmental groups and Greenpeace have done to protect the forest. All three essays teach us the importance of preserving rainforests.
