It's an association, usually in a school, for those who are interested in journalism. On a regular basis, members gather to read and write news, or design, edit, and publish a newspaper. It is an organization established in 1961 in the United States. When John F. Kennedy became president in 1961, he issued a call to Americans with these words: “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” He manifested this vision by establishing the Peace Corps to promote world peace and friendship.
Since 1961, more than 168,000 Americans have joined the Peace Corps, serving in 136 nations. The men and women who serve as Peace Corps Volunteers share a common spirit of service, dedication, and idealism. They work to bring clean water to communities, teach children, help start new small businesses, and stop the spread of AIDS.
