分词短语的句法功能

1.分词短语作补语。
He became tired of reading books.
他厌倦读书了。（过去分词短语tired of reading books作主语补语。）
She was heard singing a song.
有人听到她在唱歌。（现在分词短语singing a song作主语补语。）
I watched him painting the house.
我看他漆房子。（现在分词短语painting the house作宾语补语。）
I will have my glasses repaired by him.
我要让他修修我的眼镜。（过去分词短语repaired by him作宾语补语。）
2.分词短语作修饰语。
The man standing over there is our teacher.
站在那里的人是我们的老师。（现在分词短语standing over there作名词man的修饰语。）
I received a letter written in English.
我收到了一封用英文写的信。（过去分词短语written in English作名词letter的修饰语。）
Walking on the street, I met a friend of my father's.
在街上走时我遇到了我父亲的一个朋友。（现在分词短语Walking on the street作动词met的修饰语。）
3.分词短语作主语。
The dying tried to smile, but failed.
那位临死的人努力想笑一笑，却没成功。（现在分词短语The dying作主语。）
The learned are the most modest.
有学问的人是最谦虚的。（过去分词短语The learned作主语。）
4.分词短语作宾语。【参见分词在句中的作用】
We talked with the most admired of them.
我们与他们中最受敬仰的人交谈。（过去分词短语the most admired of them作介词with的宾语。）
The old lady housed the wounded.
老妇人提供给那些伤患住房。（过去分词短语the wounded作宾语。）
